aqualu stuff isnt EXACTLY the same as stock and the heritige is suposed to be an exact replica of what toyota produced but in a little bit thicker metal and possibly has a somthing to prevent rust...heritige also has product lines one is economy that isnt exactly the same as stock and the other is...

If he is putting it on a FJ60 fame I don't think that he is too concerned about originality.

Bringing this old thread up as it is linked from chit chat.. The thing that few people realize is the difference in cars and particularly cruisers and the concept of rust back east versus out here in the west. I am a lifer from the east coast who now lives out west. This type of rot is completely normal back east. There are very very very few cruisers on the road back east that lived out there or that people did not pay way too much for. Out here they are still expensive but they do not rot out like that. For what its worth. A lot of people considering buying cars off ebay etc from back east, Vermont, New England, etc. Do your homework, get good close up pics and be anal about it... Make sure you get what you bargained for. I have made this mistake several times myself and most times it has been a very espensive and/or highly labor intensive mistake... Hope it helps...

Can I ask the obvious. Why did you buy that?

the inside of that cab gives me the creeps. Looks better than the 1942 Willies my old man has sittin out back at his house though. At least you don't have a computer chair sitting in it for the drivers seat. :)

Hell with the cab...it's that F#*%ed up frame with the jack stand pushing 1/3 of the way up in it!!

I would worry about that before spending that kind of money on a new cab.

Tell us who Mr. "typical amount of rust" is so that we can buy more stuff from him. Heck, I can't wait!!!!!

Aqual has Aluminum tub for $1060.00
Heritage Sheet Metal has the Steel FJ45 tub for $3234.00
Why the major price difference?
SOR does not offer anything other than floor pans for a FJ45
CCOT does not offer anything other than floor pans for the FJ45
I sent the request for a price to Matkins
We will start making 45 tubs, extended tubs without doors and with doors. These at a very good price even including shipping from Pakistan. All steel.

I found more rust when I started parting this out.

I stuck the pressure washer hose in my other FJ's just to clean the crud out of the frame rails.

I pressure-washed the inside of my frame a few weeks ago in preparation for Rust Bullet, 40 yrs of accumulated dirt, lost bolts, mice's nests and rusted-off chunks of metal.

Not happy.

If that's how 'typical LC rust' looks, I need to change how I describe my rig.

A few more, just to scare you into washing the inside of your frame.
