That is exactly why i run the bf mud, they are great on the road, and they don't bring me less fun in the trail because they are not the greatest, just a tad more challenge thats all. Get a locker in the rear and switch to bf mud km2 and you'll be all set.
Eric,

Eric,
Oddly enough I removed my BFG 33X9.50 muds a few days before the YTFG. They were great tires, but the 34X10.5 Super Swamper LTB's are way better off road. Part of that being they are new vs the worn BFG's. I have a set of BFG muds in 12.5X33, but have never mounted them because they stick out beyond the body. I might try them to see how they work. If I had a few extra bucks, I might buy a set of 33X10.5 BFG muds. The 33 is like having an overdrive with the 2F and they tuck under the fenders. The 34 LTB is to much for the 2F to push on road and are they thump, shake and wander around too much. In an ideal world, I would drive on my 32 BFG AT's and offroad on the LTB's. I'd need a trailer to transport the LTB's to the site. Not the worst idea I've had. Larry

Since Canada is so breathtaking, I'd have an interest too. If I can plan ahead, that would help. I expect my rig to still be in stock form so the type of trail(s) is important to know. Keep us posted.

Your truck might even take 35x12.5. Get a M101 a trailer them ! Or change gears!

For the crazy minds i'm going to this place "chertsey" this weekend if any courageous wants to come ;-) We meet here on saturday morning

I have an 80 now.
I'm in. :)

btw, did I show you guys the Canadian Flag tattooed on my thigh, no joke.

Cool is it locked?

it is, though i need to spend some time getting the actuators working.

Cool, yeah my cousin has one (imported) brand new in the 90s. He still owns it and it has 350000 miles on it. The under side is pretty rusted. Other then is locker actuator the truck still runs good.

They must be similar to the Fjcruiser locker, i think the actuator housing is aluminum and the axle is obviously steel. when both metal contact, the aluminum actuator housing oxidize and jam. Put it apart. One Fjcruiser buddy already had is FJcruiser actuator seeze up due to aluminum oxidation.

When you assemble back, make sur you have a good gasket or bead of RTV in between the steel and aluminum. And cover it with electric grease.

But your problem maybe something else.

I went and checked you thread, other then a winch and sliders you have a very good rig!

Happy New Year Eric!

How's the planning coming along?

I picked up a Viair 450C, can't wait to get it installed. Also putting an Aussie 4 speed in along with a 3 speed case and rear locker. I may have to put the hardtop on for a long trip to Montreal if I don't just flat tow it behind the 80 or drive my 62, but I'm still in.

Happy new year Larry

Nothing planned yet but will mostlikely do. Way too much snow here to think about any kind of wheeling.

Eric, Too much snow here also. I should have bought a Bombadier! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a warm and early Spring. Keep in touch and say hello to David for me if you see him. Larry

Time to bring this back to the top. Now that I've gotten past the April trip I can focus on going North.

If you are still willing to put something together we should start hammering out the details since we all will need passports.

For me something during school break this summer will help tremendously since the boy won't need to miss school and I'm thinking this would be a week long trip for us.

When is your school break.? must like us, end june to end of august?
