Is anybody up for a one day wheeling trip, either Sunday or Monday? I've got some free time this Labor Day weekend and want to get the Cruiser's tires in the dirt.

I'm open to locations - anywhere is fine - maybe up to the Jemez, down to Socorro, even the Puerco for a quick trip.

Any suggestions? Let's go wheeling!

Evan

Sounds good Rory - keep us posted on your work schedule. You deserve a wheeling break!

I wouldn't mind trying to find the Sinkhole up in the Caja Del Rio rec area by Santa Fe. Last week, we came back empty handed but I'm more prepared with the waypoints this time. We're expecting friends to fly in on Sunday so it's a maybe for me on Monday.

The part of the trail we did do was great fun and a little challenging. The 62 that was with us didn't have sliders so we turned back before dinging his rockers.

Caja Del Rio sounds like fun. Keep us posted on your availability, Ali.

We're a maybe...

If we leave real early Saturday, I possibly could go. I have to work that night.

Graham -

I was hoping for Sunday or Monday - I've got an appointment Saturday morning (dog to the vet). But if others are OK for Saturday, feel free.

It sounds like Rory is also free "after Saturday."

Rory and I are working hard on his 80 series HG job.

Depending on how far we get with the truck, we could be in for Sunday as well.

Rory and Onur - Great news on the work schedule and head gasket progress!

I've reviewed all the posts and here's a suggestion to proceed. How about if we try a fairly early morning run in the Puerco (8:30-ish) before it gets too hot. That should accommodate Ron's need to not be too far away if he gets called in. Also, that could be a good test run for Rory's head gasket just in case "issues" arise.

Graham - any chance for you on Sunday? I'm guessing that you are working.

Ali - maybe you could join us early in the day Sunday for a Puerco run depending on when your friends fly in? I like your sinkhole idea as well - maybe that's another run for Monday?

Steve & Wendy - any interest in Puerco on Sunday morning?

OK - so there's a suggestion on the table - 8:30 on Sunday morning for a Puerco run. Any takers? I will be away from the computer most of the day today (Friday), but I'll check back tonight and see how things look.

For Ron and others who may not have been there before, go to Rio Rancho, head west on Southern and go all the way out (maybe 10 - 15 miles) and the road will dead-end into some sand dunes. We'll meet out there, air down, and hit the dirt. Hope to see you there!

sounds good to me Evan. We are not that far along with the 80, so I will be rocking the 40 :D

Flat rate time for R&R of the HG on the 1FZ-FE is ~12hrs. That's 1 guy so it should go a little bit quicker with two.

Are you paying Beno by the hour? Did you agree to supply him with beer and food before the job is finished?

Just beer. That's all I ask from Rory...I'm a simple man with simple pleasures.

Just beer. Onur is a sick man and considers the work itself to be payment

You might see me there if I can get the "commute beater" back together on Saturday.

I'll be bringing a buddy from work on Sunday as well....

He's a professional photographer and wants to take photos of the great Land Cruisers in action.

Remember to wash your rigs before Sunday!
