Hey Guys,

My friends and I want to put a short weekend offroading & camping trip together later this month. Although we know of many campsites, the guys wanted a site that is a little more remote. Atleast not withing 2-3 miles of a paved road or highway.

We wanted to do some light to moderate wheeling to get to the campsite. Somewere within 2 hr driving distance from Los Angeles.

We were up at frazier park last week, but every backroad was gated. The ranger told us that they will prob be opening back up by April-May, :bang:

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

It would be a plus if the area had a campsite, but primitive sites are just as good.

Thanks

Quail hunting season just ended as well, so the crowds will be much reduced.

Cool place out there. You can see pronghorn antelope, a great tule elk herd, wild boar and some blacktail deer. Elk are the coolest though in my opinion. If you end up heading out that way I can give you coordinates to park and walk into the main elk range. If you brought a mountain bike you could cover a lot of ground on the old closed roads out there.
