I am a first time wheel tire buyer. I am upgrading my restored land cruiser. Originally I was going to run 15" wheels and go with either 33x12.5x15´s. Now I am thinking of going to 16" wheels to give a little clearance for tie rods and disk brakes. I am just not sure what to go with. Do I go with the 16x10´s? Also, not sure what the conversion numbers are on tires and what would be equivalent to the 33x12.5.15? If I go with the 16x10 wheels, do I go with 305x70x16 tires? What would be equvalent if I want to run 35´s on the 16 wheels? Thanks for any input on this.

315 only reflects how wide the tire is only ...the next number tells you how tall your tire is by telling you what your "aspect ratio" of your sidewall is...Discount tire has a great calculator that's pretty close.

Aspect ratio tells you how tall the sidewall is and is a percentage of the width of the tire. You take this number and double it (Top and bottom sidewall) and add the size of the rim, giving you the overall height of your tire.

For an example: 315 70 R16

Means it's 315 millimeters wide
Sidewall ratio is 70% of the width so it's 220.5 mm tall (Sidewall only, Total hight you just double the sidewall hight add add the size if the rim.)
R=Type IE Radial
16 = size if rim.

In inches you have a 33.36 x 12.4 R16

I'd use a 10 inch wide rim with this...some will use different depending on what they want the tire to do...ten inches will lay relatively flat and wear the best in my opinion.
:cheers:
