After running my 35 inch tires for a while, I decided to put on wheel spacers.
I previously ran spiderTrax wheel spacers on my 200 series, and for three years and a ton of trails I never had an issue.
In the LX700h OT with 35s, the rubbing is minimal, but at full lock, the inside of the tires were rubbing on the sway bar. There was also some minor rubbing on the rear mudflaps of the front wheel wells.
With the wheel spacers, and some minor trimming, I’ve eliminated both pain points.
I took off the rear mudflaps in the front wheel wells and I found that even with the wheel spacers I was catching on the L shaped plastic piece, so I took a Dremel to that at about a 45° angle, and used some tinsnips to finish the job.
In H2, I’m not noticing any rubbing, but in H1 I’m still getting a little bit of rubbing in the front of the wheel wells, where the vents are located on the liner. I think those could be shaved down if needed, but around town I’m always in H2, so I probably won’t worry about it.
I do like the look and the stance a lot more with the 1 inch spacer on each corner. It also doesn’t hurt to have better stability around corners and off camber trails.
