I am chatting with a guy about a trade for stock FJ60 wheels that I have.

he has the following "I have 5 great 3.5" BS 15x10 alloys"

I have a 1974 FJ40 with a 1978 FJ55 disk brake front end.

Will these rims fit without spacers? I don't want to run spacers but I like the idea of different rims.

I was getting new tires anyhow.

Suggestions?

the key word here is "alloy"....unfortunately, without actual fitting, it's hard to say if they will work. Aluminum alloy rims tend to have a thicker rim section and are much more likely to interfere with calipers, even with correct backspacing.

Personally I wouldn't go with more than 3.25" backspacing on any wheel, an like Woody said some alloys are thicker, meaning that 3" would be better. The key word is "TEST FIT" and that means at full turning radius too!

Those rims actually are right now on my 1977 FJ40 :D . They do have all appropriate clearances.
