Buying a 2006 LX470.
Only negative is wheels are chrome BUT Lexus center caps aren't so that is at least a bonus!

What wheels can I look for which will fit my LX caps in 18 in? Tundra wheels? What are my options?
I want to stick with 18's. For rubber I am leaning towards 33's BFG AT's. This will rarely be off road but I like a more aggressive looking tire and with the snow it won't hurt!

As far as inexpensive tundra wheels - start here.

Search :

Tundra wheels on 100 series photo thread

Some tundra wheel center caps need modifying - that's under "search" as well.

Thanks, looks like its stock for me....
I don't want to get into modifying (me messing up) caps etc.

I'd like a dark gray like my AEV wheels but I have read powder coating chrome is not good
And by the time I got the chrome stripped it would probably be easier just to buy OEM non chrome
And call it a day with some BFG 33 ATs

As a data point, might check with Beno (IH8Mud) to see what discounted Toyota OEM are priced at or my Lexus parts guy, Brian at North Park Lexus Dominion in San Antonio. Though shipping does add up.

My LX came with chromies. I wanted to spend money on a new set of wheels. Eventually decided for my application and use I would keep the chromies and spend the money on other mods.

I may be the only one in town that likes the chrome wheels, and I also like gold lettering. But I must say the Rock Warrior are sweet and fly off CL fast for top dollor.

Most Toyota & Lexus wheels are painted which lends itself to many coating choices. Chrome wheel do not hold paint or resins well. Spray can paint or plastic dip just will not last. A good professional spray paint from a gun with hardeners added is much more durable. The very best for our wheel must be powder coating, its like a coat of armor and tougher than our factory paint.

These guy's powder coated a pair of stair case handrails for me 10 years ago, in Gold Vein Semi-Gloss to match some bar stool. Color was off a bit for my need, so they added one more coat with a bit more gold. I couldn't be happier with end result, and they look just as great after 10 years of daily use. I believe these 20" 5/150 wheel are form a LX570 and the same design as the 18" Tundra wheel. The 01 LX center caps fit great, whereas the 01 LC caps will need cutting down. The LC holding clips are the same, but the outer rim needs cutting.

Flat rear cap came with wheel. Front cap is from 01 LX

20" is mock up not mounted to this 01 LX470 as the flat cap would be push out be the wheel hub grease cap. 01 LC wheel on rear.

I found our wheels have a coat of back paint under silver. I'm going to see if I can buff off silver without removing black. Then I'd have factory painted black...cool if it works.

If you use this product you may strip off the silver and get to the black paint.

I was going to purchase a sweet set of OEM LX wheels off a guy on CL. He decided to wash the wheels and use the above product.

His wheels went from this:

I was so bummed!!

He claimed he left the product on their for a few minutes too long and he wiped it off.

I'm sure there are other ways to take off the silver and expose the black, but this is def one way of doing it without much work.

^Interesting, thanks for the tip.

I used a very weak solution of the purple stuff, washing off with hose within a few seconds. Noticed some etching, so hit with mothers. Seemed to help. So ran to store to replenish my empty jar of mothers. Seeing a foam power buffing wheel I gab it to speed up the job. Working in poor light I didn't realize in time our wheels are painted. I'm guessing the buffing wheel picked up some fine practical's (grit built up in foam pad) and made it even worst, as last wheel showed the most black in light of day. Black came through from buffing, kind of like your wheels but a shine black. I'd be concerned that Mequiar's may damage black under coat. If undercoat is baked on or epoxy I may be able to buff of outer silver. Someday I'll try with Meguiar's and a few different products and technique's on my extra wheels, when I get time..

Still trying to figure out what I want to do wheel wise.
I want to either run something with the Lexus center caps
Or an aftermarket wheel.
I know it's stupid but I don't want to drive a Lexus with Toyota center caps (yes a stupid personal hang up)
At least I know I'm OCD and ADD HaHa.

What are the issues/concerns with running spacers?

I wish I could run the AEV Argent Pintler wheels from my JK but even if that was an option those wheels are going with the Jeep when it sells.

Anyone have any suggestions for something in that dark gray color? Finding non chrome stock wheels and powdercoating them is still a consideration but I am now considering non oem.

I do not want something shiny!!!

I saw the Fuel Beast on @wjj s cruiser and think they look pretty good.
I may go with these and BFG 33's.

OK I have found these three I think I like the most, leaning towards the top one the Fuel Anza
Would love to hear thoughts or opinions.

Fuel Anza looks good. The bottom 2 would not look good on a 100

@bozncsurf I LOVE your truck!
I never thought I'd like a body colored bumper till I saw yours.

I can't wait for it to get here, I am ordering wheels and tires so I can throw them on before I even drive it home to show the wife.

I can't decide which color set up I want to go with. I'm really leaning towards the top

I will plastic dip the grill, the badges on back, new wheels, tires, light tint on front windows, a cellular remote start and possibly a VAIS or USASpec and that will be all

I WISH that was my truck!!!:(

Saw it in another thread and thought you might like to see your future rig with a few tasteful mods.

Wheels are one of those ongoing mods you make - then a few months later you second guess yourself when a new wheel hits the market or you see someone else's you like,

FN Wheels is releasing a new wheel that is light weight, strong, very reasonably priced, and specifically for the 100 - both hub centric and ideal offset. The owner text messaged me pictures but I don't think wanted them released as they were not beauty shots.

Give fn wheels a call - they are producing them in Antracite like your AEV I think!!

Thanks @bozncsurf I sent them a message but am likely going to go with the Fuel as I need wheels
Next week.
Also I doubt I will change anything once I get it done to the LX. Had my Jeep modified after 1 year and haven't changed a thing in 6 years.

I just bought the same one, curious what you ended up doing?

I just went to Tundra wheels w/33s. Got them from Facebook Marketplace, already mounted :)

They fit no problem, but the front caps need some modification to fit.
