I've got a 97 LX450. What is the wheel offset that will work best without spacers. Considering the 16 inch TRD rims for the FJ that are the right bolt pattern but the offset may not work. Also considering the Older sequoia 17 inch wheel or the 17 inch 4 runner wheel. Any offset experts out there

All those rims will require spacers because the offset is different from your stock rims.

No expert but I have been running FJC alloys on my 92 no spacers for the past year without issue.

What size tires? 4.25-4.5 seems to be the magic number on these trucks for 33"-37".

What back spacing do the stock 80 series alloy wheels have versus the TRD 16 imitation bead lock wheels?

I'm not in the know on offset vs backspacing. I know that the current Toyota wheels are designed for aerodynamics. They are tucked into the wheel well more than the wheels from the 90s. That means you could get more rubbing without spacers and I don't want spacers.

This might help.

Won't more offset push the wheels out? Wouldn't that be acceptable?

In this case the OEM wheel has a backset of 4.5", so the newer wheels the OP is looking at would rub on the inside of the wheel well under flex, not the outside lip of the fender.

I run 3.75 BS wheels and have no issues with rubbing. Have run 3.5BS in the past without issues either.

I have 33x12.5x15 tires on 15x8 wheels with 3.75 BS and a 3.5" lift on stock control arms and no bump stop drops.

No rubbing when stuffed but it's close on the inside of the rear fenders. No rubbing up front when turning either.

17x9 with -12ET offset which is 5" Back Spacing. No rubbing... well a 5" lift helps.

Backspacing is what I'm concerned about. I don't want to rub on the frame side as pointed out earlier. I'm using an OME heavy lift with Slee rear ARB front. Haven't picked wheels and tires yet.
2K that is a looker to go along with the turbo goods.
I have been considering the TRD simulated headlock wheels. Not sure what tire yet

I'm going with 33-35 inch tire on my 2 in heavy OME lift with heavy bumpers front and rear. I would like to use a wider 33 so I might go with another wheel. That 17x9 size is appealing. I might need more sidewall and use my stock LX wheels. I'm looking at A/T tires not mud but I may change my mind. Looking for quiet performance. Some of the new high tech mud treads are quieter. What do you think?

Most of the new A/T are all quite these days. I have tried Nitto, Falken, Hankook, Yokohama, and Bridgestone A/T's in the past. The most quite were the Yokos and then Falken & Hankook.

I am running the 17x9 which in my opinion is an appropriate width for a larger 35" tire. the backspacing is 4.25.
