I am looking for a 270-degree awning to mount to my Rhino Rack. What do you have? What do you like/dislike about it?
Thanks in advance.

I’m following this thread, I’ve been down this rabbit hole recently and have decided to hang back until the fall.
To answer your question with no real world experience, other than speaking with importers and installers, I’m leaning toward the quickpitch weathershade 20 second awning and the ostrich wing awning. I also considered the Bundatec offerings as I have one on my Conqueror camper and it’s great. Mine is a 360 and I don’t think that’s a good fit for my LC, I don’t need to cover the hood and it’s big. Their other configurations are probably as well made and robust but the 270° needs a leg to work and I want something completely free standing. It also needs to fit in my garage.
One thing to consider is the brackets used to mount the awning on your rack. From my digging I’ve found that the rear bracket will need to be two sided, meaning it will attached to the side of the rack but also along the rear, picture a ‘L’ shape, for extra rigidity. Since you have a Rhino Rack, sourcing a bracket shouldn’t be a problem since it’s a popular and established rack. I’m running a Dissent rack and the guys I spoke with all said I needed something fabricated, which would turn into a trip there and fitting.
I am thinking of the OVS one due to value and sqft of coverage. Seems to be one of the highest.I've had Rhino and OVS, and vastly prefer the OVS.
Def my top choice! They look so good.I have just installed a Bush Company 270XT last month on my ARB Base rack, love it, deploys in 20 seconds, free standing, solid frame and pivot points, very well engineered and packs away in under 60 seconds.
People ask me about it so I show them its that easy. I had a standard square with posts, guy ropes and pegs on my 100 for 14 years and only used it 10 times, just to much effort, I have already used this one more.

Curious if you considered the 270 XT Max when buying your 270 XT? I recall it is about $300 more but you get more coverage. Without question when I buy it is one of those awnings. The video of them setting the 270 XT Max up in the wind and the sturdiness definitely falls under the pay once cry once as I will never do poles or guidelines again.I have just installed a Bush Company 270XT last month on my ARB Base rack, love it, deploys in 20 seconds, free standing, solid frame and pivot points, very well engineered and packs away in under 60 seconds.

I did consider the XT Max but was concerned about the addional packed size, it’s a bigger lump on the roof. I have read about a few who have upgraded and when I look at mine deployed I think it would be great to fill in that forward space, but you are adding another hinge bracket, 2 arms, 2 triangles of canvas and 6kg, I plan to use it for shade more than shelter but if you are considering the side panels for accomodation the XT could be the go.Curious if you considered the 270 XT Max when buying your 270 XT? Yes, a friend also has one on his 200 but they are the only ones here in OzIs that a Sale Rear Bumper in Australia
After going through a Foxwing from OzTent, Batwing from Rhino-Rack, Manta from Eezi-Awn, and then a Shadowawn from Alucab, I've gone back to just some tarps and poles.
Sure I lose the ability to "open it up on the side of the road", but that's so I overplayed. I don't always need the shade and so I only take it or set it up when I need it. I also save a lot of weight and a lot of weight up high on the vehicle.
I keep some poles and a batwing type tarp from here: Batwing Camping Tarp for Rain and Sun - https://luxe-hiking-gear.com/products/batwing-group-lightweight-tarp
Infinitely flexible and provides outstanding coverage. Pretty wind resistant when properly staked. Can easily drop a side for privacy or sun protection.
I also have a couple of other tarps from Force Protector Gear that I haven't tried yet and a couple of vintage tarps from Moss Tents that do extremely well too.
