I just got and 80 and all is new to me. I have been in the Toyota mini for quite a while now. I'm jumping to the cruiser side now. My BRAKE, A/T OIL TEMP, & DISCHARGE WARNING LIGHT came on all at once and i don't know what the hell to do. Can somebody technically lead me in the right direction to fix what evers wrong with the Cruiser please. Mahalo and Aloha.

Welcome:flipoff2:

Alternator?

Welcome:flipoff2:
my advice...move back to Hawaii, no but this is a great sight, use the search feature and the advice of the LC gurus
I havent had a problem yet that couldnt be diagnosed by the Ih8mud crew

You need to give more info. Year of rig would help to determine how to pull codes if necessary. Also, more than "came on all at once" would help. Besides the lights, how is it running, what's your tech experience, did you buy from dealer or private party - history sometimes is valuable. Just help us help you. Welcome:flipoff2:!

Right on thanks for the 411. I wasn't trying to be rude if it sounded that way. Mahalo.

All good :) Let us know how it turns out, or need further diag.

My Cruiser is a 91 and i bout it from a private party. The cruiser runs perfect. Idles great and drives well. Last night i locked my remote in the glove box. So when i pulled infront of my gate, I put the truck in park and turned off the truck to open the glove box. When i put the key back in the ignition and started it. The lights all came on. So i to my house witch is 3minutes away from my gate and parked it in the garage. I woke up this morning and started the truck. The 3 same lights were on again.

Yeah sounds like the alternator. When mine finally went I got abs, oil temp, oil level, and just about every other warning light.

Don't know about 3FE alternators, but on 1FZs you can replace just the brushes - hell of a lot cheaper than the alternator. With age and mileage, there's a good chance that's what it is. Check them out and keep us posted.

Probably the brushes can be replaced, any good electrical mechanic can replace them, even the ones that "cannot" be replaced.:steer:

Anybody know if the brushes can be changed on these years 91&92? I took mines out and evrything is connected!

Like I said: a good electrical shop can take care, even if they are connected.:)

there are two alternators for the 3fe, a 90 amp and an 80 amp. 90 amp brushes can be replaced, 80 amp can but require soldering and will cost more than an oem reman. you probably have the 80 amp. I thought I had a 90 amp, bought a reman 90 amp, and turns out I had an aftermaket 80 amp with all of the characteristics of a 90 amp alt.. the 90 amp went in with a couple of minor modifications, I have been meaning to do a write up for a couple of weeks now but haven't had a chance and wanted to make sure everything was working ok.

yes it is

found out mines is a 80 amp. I was going to buy the MEAN GREEN. Saw the price and said i'm going to buy the Denso for now. Thanks everybody for the 411 and i appreciate it very much. The part comes in tomorrow and i will be installing it myself. It was a pain to take that alternator out. Tryed to do some shortcuts, but that didn't work.
