[glow=black,2,2]I'd say the $999 is a red herring . What you are really being asked is to mule drugs thru customs ... I'd drop a dime on the DEA as well as the fraud squad ... and then run like a summbitch ..[/glow]

She caught her husband screwing around on her with a good looking American girl and she is selling his LC to anyone in the USA to punish him since the girl was American :) That's one we all could believe.

I don't think so. The car is in Illinois. You would never see it.

what would really suck? a month from now some newbie shows up at i8mud with this 100..................he mentions he picked it up for $16K :whoops:

Even if it had a salvage title and had been crashed, it would still go for more than $16K, unless it were completely undriveable.

I see that the eBay link has been yanked, but I sent an email to the seller in Autotrader letting him know what was going on. His reply...

Every once and a while you will see vehicles with the same number? WTF??? ??? I didn't bother telling him that they were so similar they even had the exact mileage taken from the same camera angle. Oh well. I guess he didn't want something minor like an eBay fraud to get in the way of a potential sale.

How is it possible to have same VIN Number? Isn't it the same as I am having same SSN as someone?

Okay. I have been emailing this lady(?) and here is the conversation.

here's my address and name:
Shannon Reachel
VIA DANTE ALIGHIERI 25
RIANO , ROME 00060
ITALY

There will be no problem,we can meet each other in Italy, but you have to make that deposit of $999 US dollars to insure me that you realy want the car and have money available to buy
it,and not wasting my time. After the deposit was made and checked out and everything goes well I will hold it for you .Thank you and let me know with your decision asap.

Let me know if you can meet me at Italy. So I can look at the actual car and decide. I am a serious buyer.

Hi,
I have cancel the auction because I had to many offers for it and I was getting more and more confused as I do not know who is
who....so now I will wait for the buyer but I give everyone a fair chance so we can still make a deal if you wish so please
let me know your decision.
Regards!

I just noticed this was not available anymore from ebay.
If it is still available, can I fly to Italy to inspect the car? I am going on Business trip end of this week and I can meet you at Italy on Friday.
Let me know.

Anybody wants to go to Italy and throw away $999?

[glow=black,2,2]Is anyone 'tracking' their correspondance ... it's origins etc ??[/glow]

This is such a typical online scam- foreign country, Western Union, and then cancelling the auction at the last minute and trying to make a deal outside of any organization that could possibly protect you against fraud. The guy i was talking to (about a Plasma TV that was too good to be true) said he was in London, but his email traced back to Thailand! I called him on it and he said he travels a lot. ::) I hope you're not serious about traveling to Italy- 99% sure the vehicle does not exist. Did you ever get the VIN and try to trace it?

I believe someone from this forum traced to vehicle located at Illinois NOT italy. Funny thing is the response from the dealer saying sometimes vehicles have same VIN numbers. How possible is that or is he into same deal?
No. I am not planning on going to Italy. I wanted to see how far this person goes with the scam. Well, sure enough, she said she is not going to meet with me unless I pay $999 down payment.

This is a classic eBay scam, the only error they made was to have an email conversation with someone from this board. They should have chosen consumer electronics as their "product" of choice...much harder to trace.

Tell her that you will hand deliver the money, no checks, US dollars, small bills, unmarked, brown paper bag, high noon at the Vatican and the secret code phrase is "I'm the big brown fox".

[glow=black,2,2]Ask to be sent a notorized bill of sale - copy.... etc etc

PM me some of the header info .. from the emails [/glow]
