I want the added traction in snow, but don't want to blow anything up. Thanks.

You might mention which model/year you are using. Other than torque multiplication I am not sure that low range adds anything. In some situations it can be less effective because certain nannies are deactivated. To answer your question directly, just divide the speed by the transfer case reduction ratio. So if the transfer case is 2:1 then you can only go half as fast as long as air flow is adequate for cooling. The transfer case cooling might quickly be an issue and I would not do this personally.

4Lo is not for speed. The manual probably lists the max.

you can do 60 mph in 4lo, but I wouldn't do it;) IMO proly 15mph and under for 4lo...

For added traction in snow I would use the winter setting (starts off in second gear) with the center diff locked. When you get back to dry pavement unlock the center diff.

4Lo, in my experience, isn't useful in snow unless you are stuck. And even then not so much.

If your having problems with traction in the snow with your land cruiser. Your tires may be the problems! The stock michilens were horrible in the snow. My new KO2's rock in the snow. 4lo just gives you more power when going over big rocks and hills not sure if it will help with snow...

I needed 4Lo to climb pretty tall sand dunes, the max i could get out of it was banging off the rev limiter in 4th gear. It won't select a higher gear as a safety net.

I agree. In winter I change over all of my vehicles to Bridgestone Blizzaks. Snow and ice are no longer concerns, as long as those driving around me can stop as fast as I can.

This thread reminded me of an idiot I knew in highschool who had one of the first 100 series when they came out. He went stop light to stop light against camaros and mustangs at the local drag in 4lo. I think his race ended when he was redlining at 35mph but he got there long before the other guys.

Then his transfer case blew up.

my 100 did 60mph in low, don't ask;)
