Endless;
The FZJ80 has (with CDL switch & Pin-7 Mod):
- CDL Off & High Range (Daily Driving) = AWD
- CDL On & High Range = 4WD (same as part-time 4WD in high range)
- CDL Off & Low Range = AWD
- CDL On & Low Range = 4WD (same as part-time 4WD in low range)
You can drive any speed in either low / high range - AWD / 4WD

4WD HI-Range speed is generally limited to terrain, and low range speed is governed by gear ratio

Long before those two factors - common sense comes into play
One of the best advantages of AWD is the ability to maintain control in changing road conditions like your picture. Better traction / control in rain, snow, ice, sand, etc., and with a good driver - you can get quite far before you need to engage 4WD, then Low Range 4WD. With the "Pin-7" modification, you can run in AWD low for better torque distribution, traction, etc in snow / ice while maintaining the vehicles rear-end while cornering / pulling your boat out of a algae covered ramp, etc.
The 80 series landcruisers have the best of both worlds - AWD & 4WD!
