What's it cost to do a spring-over?

I would add drivelines to the list that dieselcruiserhead posted. Sure, some get by with the stock ones, but I have never regretted upgrading to Tom Woods CV's front and rear. If you want to keep it a DD, then you have to think about fabbing up sway bar links as well.

As far as using stock springs, nothing is wrong with doing that other than they will sag pretty quickly. If your stock springs are already worn out the sagging will happen that much faster. You could always throw in some MAF long AAL's to stiffen up your limp stockers. Ha ha.

Its not that hard to save a few thousand if you can do it your self ,

The way i did my spring over was ,
put the car on stands undid all the brake lines , steering components , hand brake , cut the u bolts off ,

then removed the swinging shackle bolt in the bushes of the leafsprings , once you removed the bolt , the back of the springs fall to the ground but still swinging from the chassis at the other end ,
so because youve undone everything on the diff and the wheels are still on the diff you just roll it out backwards , then bolt your leafsprings back up.

Do the same on the front the only differnce being that you remove your bolt from the fixed end bush , but still the same roll the front diff out , and then bolt the spring back up.

Once you diffs are out basically weld your spring perches directly above you old ones , that you may have bought or made ( s*** easy to make! )

Once youve welded your new perches cut of the old ones and your done.

Wheel the diffs back in no under the springs and do them up with your new u-bolts , presto spring over conversion finished !!

You still have a bit to do , reweld new shocker mounts run new brake lines , bleed brakes , and im sure there are a few other things that i can't remember right now but that is basically it .

The hardest thing will be your draglink steering linkage which now has to go over your leaf pack , two ways of doing it making one out of two and getting it profesionally welded or buying one for about $300.00 bucks.

And from memory that is it !!

Good luck , but the key is that you keep as low as possible the flatter the leaf pack the better !

Oh almost forgot , Beer in fridge is a must , otherwise things go wrong if done sober !!!

And don't make the same mistake I did and not address the gearing at the time of the SOA conversion. My SOA was basically useless offroad until I could slow the truck down to take advantage of the new flex.

I second the worn stock springs as performing well on the trail.. my SO 55 has worn stock springs.. been a couple years and no noticeable sag or negative arch. Gearing is key as has been stated...
