Earlier today, I found myself going into the tools in my LC to grab a wrench for a non-vehicle repair at someone else’s place. I’m considering pulling a dedicated tool roll together for things that include basic vehicle maintenance and repairs, as well as accomplishing the inevitable odd job that comes along with being the person that fixes things more generally.

Anyone have a favorite tool roll or storage solution for your vehicle? How much or little do you keep in it?

Here’s mine. Its all my dedicated LC tools. Its rather large but I have everything I need to fix anything that may come up and I can break it down to individual boxes for travel if need be.

DO you have an inventory of the tools. Especially the 100 specific tools? I have a 55mm hub socket but I believe that is the only non general tool I have.

Mostly just all my metric tools and anything I’ve ever used to work on the LC. Off the top of my head here is a list:

Top box:
Milwaukee M18 1/2” drive impact
Milwaukee M12 1/2” drive stubby impact
Milwaukee M12 1/2” ratchet
Tekton 1/2” drive metric deep impact socket set
1/2” metric socket set 29mm-38mm
1/2” drive ft/lb torque wrench
1/4” in/lb torque wrench
Milwaukee 3 lb mini hammer
Small ball pean hammer
Small mallet
18” pry bar
Brass drift
Hub socket
Couple M18/M12 batteries
Several Milwaukee lights/headlamp

Middle box:
Milwaukee metric nut drivers
Assorted sockets/ratchets 3/8” & 1/2”
Milwaukee 1/4” socket set
Williams 3/8” metric socket set
3/8” low profile impact hex driver set
Set of 3/8” wobble extensions
Some impact swivel sockets
Set of small Milwaukee picks
Set of large hose picks
Lots of different pliers, vice grips, hose clamp pliers, hose removal pliers, snap ring pliers, electrical pliers, needle nose (standard and long), 24” flexible locking hose clamp pliers
Test light & volt meter
Panel clip removal tool
Zip ties
Assorted epoxy, marine tex grey, hose clamps, etc
Scope camera

Bottom box:
Assorted screwdrivers
1/2” flex head long ratchet 120 click
Several double sided extra long flex head ratcheting wrenches
Set of stubby ratcheting wrenches
Set of standard length flex head ratcheting wrenches
Set of 3/8” crows feet wrenches
Set of metric box end wrenches
Set of (3) 11” long reach hose pliers
Flare nut wrench set

Misc:
Brake clean
PB plaster
Assorted gloves
Electrical tape/connectors
Tesa tape
Assorted length cotton swabs
Heat shrink tubing/lighter
Caps/plugs for lines
Assorted body panel clips
I’m sure I’m missing a few assorted items but thats the majority of it.

I keep a good basic tool set in my LC at all times. Just typical Metric sockets, ratchets, extensions, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.
The ony thing ive added that is specific to the 100 series is a front hub tool, brass hammer, and C Clip pliers if i had to change out a CV in the bush
Ive also added Gorilla tape, elec. tape, extra 12v wire+butt connectors, hose claps, extra peices of fuel hose , stuff like that for just-in-case

Same as @excessive above. Plus, hub socket, points, condenser, carb. kit, fuel pump, radiator hoses, heater hose length, fan belts, timing light, some clamps, duct tape and multi-meter in a medium Harbor Freight tool bag that I wrap with small bungees to keep things from rattling. A repurposed milk crate for liquids, coolant, gear oil motor oil. distilled water

My tool roll is a fair-sized soft tool bag further organized with a bunch of old purses and make-up bags that I find at my second-hand store. I like the soft bags 'cause they're easier to pack around and don't rattle much. I carry most of my LandCruiser specific tools and stuff that just ends up in the Pig. A separate plastic toolbox just for electrical stuff. A big plastic box for trail spares is strapped into the corner. I carry a lot of spares, and rebuild kits and gaskets and odds & ends. just the way I was raised. The spares and tools stay in the rig whether I'm picking Grandson up at school or doing the Rubithon.

Wix 33033, spare fuel filter I assume?
yes, I was in a FLAPS looking for fuel filters, that was all they had but I didn't end up needing it. Might help in the future though...

Nothing at all wrong with Milwaukee style hard cases but personally I like what we call Tool Rolls. The absolute best I’ve come across are from the above link…Adventure Tool Co. I use 7-8 of their bags 1 for wrenches, another for electric stuff etc. Not at all cheap, but Very sturdy, long lasting etc.

And to top it off, made by a husband/wife team that live in Colorado. Everything is made in USA…everything. And to top all that off they drive a 60 & is a MUD member.

Not an affiliate in any way, just a very pleased customer.

I put the electrical repair stuff in a small soft sided tackle bag. Used the included plastic boxes for the various terminals and the side zippered pockets for the tools.
Everything else, a 'complete Craftsman set' that has been added onto, are in many different tool rolls. The only tools not in those bags full of rolls is the 6-n-1 screw-driver, a 6" Crescent, and a safety wire pliers and 1 lbs. tub of .032" wire. Those live in the center console or somewhere close to the driver's seat. I've found that a couple rare earth magnets make the Crescent easy to keep on the side of the driver's seat without risking it becoming a missile in the event of a calamity.

Race-Chase tools load-out gets pretty extensive. Haven't needed it in a couple of years, so I probably should re-organize it into something less and easier to carry. It currently takes up a good part of the rear of a Full Size Bronco.
Top-Tip: The Silver Sharpies are good for marking what each tool roll contains.
