Greetings Folks,

Long, long, long time lurker here, just now bursting out of the closet. Not that closet.

Last week I finally bought my Cruiser--a 2006 with 110K or so. Immediately threw on what seems to be the basics here: OME 2.5" Medium Lift, Slee UCA's, ARB with Warn 8K, Slee Front Skid plate and Toyo 285 65 R16 RT's. I couldn't be happier--it drives as tight as a nice sedan and as quiet as a caddy. Quite a change from my 6.4L F250.

Anyhow, like many of you, I tend to name my vehicles. My 76 CJ5 is named Dalton after the character in Roadhouse because he kicks ass and crushes panties (not really--I'm happily married but whatever). My 98 Dodge 3500 plow truck is named Bruiser because he's a dually flatbed that looks like it came out of a MadMax movie.

I'm struggling naming the Cruiser, and I don't know why. My old (now sold) 1985 4runner was named Wang, so I'm tempted to name this one Wong, but it's not sticking. Throw me a bone here and thanks for all the help putting this thing together with a great forum full of information.

Forgot to mention my trailer, originally built for Wang, was named Chung. I like where your head is at, though.

We had two cats - they were brothers. One was a gatherer and one was a hunter. We named them Putty and Pongo, respectively. Based on the color, maybe your truck is a Putty? But if he's a hunter, maybe your truck is a Pongo?

I like this.

I named my 98' Norm after Stormin' Norman Schwarzkopf because it's desert bronze and looks like a tank.

My cruiser is named "Shep" after the elephant in the Jungle Book.

Mine is Gojira.

Looking to see who else named their truck - Struggling with the same issue. Named my Dodge ramp truck the "Wild Weasel" but need something fitting the FJ40.

I follow the old Venezuelan naming convention for Land Cruisers: wagons are "she", shorties (40s, 70s) are "he". My green 100 is "La Patilla" (the Watermelon or 'Melon), because she's green and was much rounder than my previous Cruisers. My white 100 is "La Luna" (the Moon), after my wife rejected a few other suggestions. We call our white 200 series "Aretha", because compared to the Acura MDX it replaced, we get R-E-S-P-E-C-T from other drivers.

Previous Cruisers in my life:

The Princess - FJ62 named after a jealous girlfriend accused me of treating the truck like one. It stuck immediately.
La Alcachofa (the Artichoke) - FJ45 troopie named for it's green color and perennial layer of dust.
"La Cucaracha" (the cockroach), black FJ70, named by another girlfriend who hated the color. It also stuck immediately.
The Rhino - Wife's 2003 UZJ100.

My name is G.A., I tend to gravitate to other 'G' names for my cars lately. My deceased LX was Gloria, my old E55 was Giada (because who wouldn't want to lick a spoon with Giada?), and my new LC is Gira. I thought Gira was just a cool, feminine Japanese sounding name but my GF found that it's actually Spanish for 'tour'. I found this highly appropriate given the purpose of the truck and so it stuck.

BTW, cars are always women. I've never understood why some guys name their cars after men.

My 96 is “The Green Land Cruiser” my 06 “The Silver Land Cruiser” and my LX470 has always been the “Lexus”. Now that I’ve got the LX570 it’s thrown a wrench in things. Looks like the LX470 will become the “470” and the LX570 the “570”.
Not a whole lot of creativity going on around my joint:meh:

The Fat Chick, because is big, heavy and slow, but once it gets going it's unstoppable.
