I have a 08 LX with 55k and thought it was time to do the rear brakes. Got Lexus pads, hardware kit and rotors and everything went together as expected, which is to say easily and quickly, The problem is that both sides are making the kind of rubbing noises that only brakes can make. The piston on each caliper easily was compressed when I put on the new pads and the calipers move smoothly on the caliper frames. The parking brake shoes were not adjusted and the old rotors came off easily and the new ones went on without any apparent contact with the shoes. The backing plates are not hitting the rotors. I am starting to think I have the wrong rotors or pads, but I double-checked and everything seems good. I remember 20 years ago that some new rotors had to be surfaced before use. Can this be the problem?? Thanks for the help. John

Did you use OEM rotors? I ask because I just replaced my rotors and went with EBC rotors. They went on fine but once I drove the vehicle they made a horrible screeching noise. I took everything apart and was able to determine they were rubbing against the parking brakes no matter how much I adjusted them. The inside of the rotors was visibly scratched. I had to finally take the vehicle to the Lexus dealer and they were able to machine lathe the inside to expand the inner diameter a bit.
