What to spray on drum to prevent corrosion (1 Viewer)

I am replacing the synthetic rope on my smitybilt winch today with a new synthetic rope. I would think I would want to lubricate the drum once I got the old rope off but did not know what to use.

are there any product that won’t degrade the rope?

The drum doesn't need/want any lubrication, you want just the opposite - friction between the drum and the first layer/wrap of line. That is what anchors your line to the drum when using the winch.
