The girlfriend wants some cold air, so we were thinking of a nite @ the south rim and in Flagstaff. My experience and knowledge of Flag goes no deeper than driving thru. Any recommendations?

The Radisson is nice. Been there twice. You could stop by Vintage Off Road... ;)

Ooh and if you like trains, GREAT train watching. :D

Sounds like a tent would work:flipoff2:

Somewhere down the line, I've grown to prefer a real bed and indoor plumbing:grinpimp:

I suppose we can always leave a window open:flipoff2::flipoff2:

Yeah that's what I liked about it. :D

DON'T STAY BY THE RR TRACKS! Trains come though there 24/7. 24/7 24/7 You won't sleep much!

Could be a good option...he is going with a GIRLFRIEND RR tracks might keep the neighbors from complaining.:flipoff2:plus when you are single with a girlfriend who sleeps.:flipoff2:

MUST SEE/DO - $100 Hill/Sunset Crater

If you are going to Flag, you might as well drive 20 minutes north to Sunset Crater and Cinder Hills ORV park. We camp there every 4th of July and go wheeling. There is no shortage of people trying to make it up $100 hill. If you don't know what $100 hill is, just google it - you will find many videos.

Also, I recommend staying at the Little America or any of the hotels around that area - NO TRAINS!

There is a great place to eat in Flag called - and I'm not being rude - Beaver Street Brewery.
It's awesome!

Make sure to get your pic taken at the corner of Cherry and Beaver.

sunset crater, walnut canyon, lava tube, ride the chair lift to the top of the Mtn if its still going, visit the observatory, hang out in the downtown area and listen to live music/people watch, just a few of my favs.

p.s. too bad its not fat tire fest time, thats always good.

I have been there for work-related stuff in June of the past three years and stayed at three different hotels. I rank them as follows: 1) Embassy Suites, 2) LaQuinta and 3) Marriot. At Embassy Suites, you get a cook-to-order breakfast. At LaQuinta, you get a self-serve continental breakfast and the same thing at Marriot, but not as good. Embassy Suites was the quietest of the three, and the Marriot is the loudest, because your front door and window faces the walkways for people to get to their rooms. Have fun.
