here is my rig it weight:
3,250 lb in the front
4,910 lb in the rear
8,160 total weight
here is a picture of my rig

i am currently using the at bfg 12.50" x 35" x 15" rim. they been good but i am thinking of a narrower tire and can carry this weight. i am thinking 9" to 11" wide, on a 16" rim. i can stay with 35" in diameter or go to 36" diameter or higher. i am mainly in asphalt road, wash boards and deep bumpy road, rarely on the mud or sand. i have two questions 1. should i go to 36" diameter, what effect will it have on the performance of my rig? 2. what tire should get? here are a that i am thinking about Bias Ply Tires for light trucks - STA Superlug Bias Ply
Goodyear*Military Wrangler MT/R
MICHELIN Off road

other suggestions??:bang:

We're running the KM2's E-rating and I believe each tire is rated for around 3100lbs. Your current tires might already be that high though.

Looks like you have a great expo rig there. Are you thinking about the increased weight capacity of tubed bias ply tires? Also the superlug load range G would awesome I bet for you. Sounds like you are pretty heavy for a load range D radial.

How do you measure the weight at each axle? Do you have a scale that can measure the weight while no weight is on the other tires? The reason I ask is that weight will shift around as you climb hills, drive at an incline etc so it seems like those numbers can vary because the center of gravity moves around depending on the terrain.

Heres a link though I dont know about their quality. Maybe someone else has experience with them.

The Military Wranglers are for 16.5" wheels. Do you want those? Or do they come in 16's too?

does anyone know the tread wide of these tires mounted on a 8 x 16 wheels? just to be clear I am asking about the wide of the tread that is touching the road. thanks

Can't help with contact width, but I have been running Toyo MTs on my little truck for a number of years. My truck tips the scales at 7800 pounds (weighed on the scale at the sled pulls) and it goes up from there depending on use.

255 85 r16

i am all over the map on what tire to use, i know i want to go narrower, now i am thinking 255 85 r16. what do you think of the 255 85 r16 on my 8000 pound rig? any suggestions?

Any E load tire in that size should be no problem for 8k lbs.

I had 255 85 16 for 5 yrs on my 100 loved them, but think my truck truck slide sideways on wet trails more than trucks with wider tires ,got 285 now and it does feel better.
