FJ80 had either 235/75/15 or more commonly 31/10.50/15

FZJ80 had 275/70/16 ;)

NOTE: The above refers to North American spec vehicles.

99% of em had 31's, only the odd very early 91's had 235's mounted on a steel 15x6 chromish wheel, these also had no fender flares, some had no sliding windows, some had no sunroof. I drove on of these brand new on the lot in late 1990, there are a few in town still......all white.

John,

Yup, 31/10.50 was the norm even though strictly speaking that size and the flares were an extra cost option on the sticker. TMS ordered a few without, found out how ugly and sale-proof they were and quit doing it :D

Dan, what dealership are you at? I have a feeling most the non flare fj80's were sold on the west coast, most folks have never seen one in the US......yet there are 2-3 of em in Gig Harbor. Yeah kinda like you could get the steel wheels on a 93+(forget the last year offered the wheels) not alot of them ordered that way ;)

BTW I have never seen a 92 without OEM flares.....anyone?

Love when you get new tyres and the guy is always like, we get other comparable size SUVs like Subarbans with 245/75/16. Makes me gleem when I can say Ive got a larger tyre stock than some other car.

Uh, dude, most of us can't go to a tire store to buy our rubber :flipoff2:

Nothing worse than the day I was picking up my 36's. Sportin (seeing if filters work woody {they didn't, so re-edited:flipoff2:) and all of a sudden, they roll out 42's for a 40. Made me want to :'( :flipoff2:

3fj40

Spotted a dude, during CMCC-03, with 33" TrXus on stock suspension with trailer hitch. He did fine. Heck his 80 did better than the 60's with 35's. Musta been the spotting. :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :D

I ask because I am seriously considering a very good deal on an FJ80 as an addition to my LC family. I want to remove the auto/full time tcase and sell them, then put an H42F behind the 3F-E with a part-time tcase with the proceeds (as well as the fun of finding a clutch assembly, drive shafts, et al) This of course has nothing to do with tires, but wanted to know what the stock size was as to guage using the stock rims.

why run AVM when a Aisin hub will bolt right up and is a much better hub, actaully you only need one free wheeling hub.

Why's that Pimp? Why not 2?

Dis-connecting one side kills the other. Just like a spinning wheel :D
