Need to replace a heat pump compressor. What seer and brand do you recommend?

at least 13-14 seer, but used with the heat pump, the seer # is kind of immaterial..trane, luxaire would be a first choice....but trane blowers have a lot of hardware, technology associated with them.

if you're a kiss guy, go for the luxaire

Thanks. Seller of house we are buying opted for a Carrier 13 Seer. I hear Carrier makes and pretty simple, reliable unit. Any thoughts?

I didn't hear that, I steer away from them for my purposes.

Thanks for the reply; we'll see how it does.

Thanks, man. I'll keep you posted.

13 to 14 SEER and a scroll compressor, is the best for problamatic climates, kinda pricey but worth the relief of headaches.

Sorry I checked out on this. I'd rather take a beating than move again. The prior owner went with a 13 SEER unit, which, for now, seems to be working fine. I need to do a little insulating around ducts, etc., but I am hoping am good for a few years.
