OK, so the pictures I have seen shows the 105 with a 5 lug hubs. So what axle is in the rear. Is it the 80 axle with different hubs (ie full floater) or is it the same as the 100 being a semi-floater?

Also, in OZ when you get the turbo diesel IFS 100 series, does it have a semi floater like the US spec or not?

It's too bad we don't see those here in the states.

All our full size cruisers are FF :flipoff2:

I will have to check see if the splines on the rear are same as 80 or not, but the hub is 5 stud, as well as the larger brakes etc of the 100 series over the 80, but i think the FF Aus 100 axle may be same track as the 80. [something is telling me 100 axles fatter than 80 axles, will check it]

Your partly right, the track is what you have said for the split rim poverty pack model, but is the same same for the wider rim version like the gxl.

all the late models 78, 105 etc come with 4.3 same as all the early models came with 4.11

Both Mr. Blue and this 105 have the AO4B code. I see a lot of different information when I try to google this. Is there a definitive answer as to exactly what rear diff this is? Is it a LSD?

Thank you for the reply. Could you clarify what you mean when you say that it is a 4 pin but in reality a 2 pin?

FYI
You can swap HZJ79 hubs onto an 75/80/81 series.
You only require the 5 or 6 lug hubs, internals are identical.
I have used the above parts, and though I haven't had my hands on a 105 the same should hold true.

1 vs 2 cross shafts in the carrier. So either 4 spider gears or 6.

Not 6, it's 4 spider gears for so called 4 pinions, and 2 spider gears for so called 2 pinion diff.

That is just a nomenclature difference. The side gears are often commonly referred to as spider gears as well.

Not correct.

You can swap hubs but internals are not the same on the rear axles.

79 hubs also are not exactly the same as 80/105, in particular front hubs.

105s came with FF rear and SF float rear, disc rear and drum rear too.

Cheers

Hubs, spindle, bearings!
Initial question references 5 of 6 lug hubs.
I did only say hub stuff.

We have swapped numerous hzj75 hubs to 79 hubs. The 75 hubs as 6 lug fit the 80/81 series. I have used 79 hubs on an HDJ81.
FYI
The 79 birf is tight at the drive flange, but a little shaving and once past the clip everything fits.
The key to Toyota hubs is the spindle!
If the spindle bolts up, then you are good to go.
Luckily for me the 79 calipers are also a direct fit to the 80/81 series.
Rear drum brake parts are also identical between the 75 and 79 series. Only difference is whether it's a 5 or 6 lug hub.

Hoping this would be the right thread, but would a 2006 hzj79 rear diff centre with factory toyota locker fit straight into a hzj105 diff housing, do i need to source a long spline axel shaft for the factory locker or is that just on the 100 series models.

My dream would be to have the factory locking diff centre but with a cable lock up instead of the electronic actuator.
