I was changing out some vac lines on my 60 today and happened to break a port on a very small part. It is a small valve-looking part, one side is green, then clear plastic in the middle, and the back side is black. It is not the one that sits directly above the thermostat housing, but it is the same kind of part. It is the larger one to the right of the thermostat (and back a bit). It sits close to the power steering pump (between it and the manifold).

The part number is: 010 21
It has "A" on the green side, and "B" on the black side.

If I had a digital camera, I'd take a shot of it for you guys.

I was able to repair it, but need to order a new one. If for some reason the port breaks when I try to reinstall the vac line, would it hurt things to drive it for a week with just a vac line bypassing the part?

What does it do?

Thanks.

I was able to get it back on and it seems fine, so I will order the part. I would still like to know what it does though.

Thanks.

I believe that is either a VSV or VCV. Vacuum Switching Valve or Vacuum Control Valve. I have a few extras at home and I can check and see if I have that part number. If you have the FSM it tells you how to check them for proper operation.

It is a VTV valve. Allows vac from one side only. No clue what VTV stands for thought.

Vacuum Transfer Valve.

From the emissions book: fcn is to delay transfer of vacum. (ie - it's a delay switch)
Inspection:
check that air flows w/out resistance from B to A
check that air flows with difficulty from A to B
if problem is found, replace

Cool. Thanks guys. I have to order a new one anyway, as the B side is broken.

Chitown... if you happen to find the part, I'd love to get it from you. Thanks!

Appreciated.

UPDATE:

I tried ordering this part from cruiserdan, but he said the part number was not a valid Toyota part number. Can anyone shed some light on this? Is there more than one VTV Valve under the hood? My first post lists the number I pulled straight from the part...

Anyone have an extra that works?

It's a VTV (Vacuum Transmitting Valve) for the smog pump crap.
The p/n has been superceded to 90925-01079 (old 90925-01029).
I'd guess the cost is around $35.

If yours is tested and working, use it. A good super glue should keep it together as it doesn't need to bear much stress. When you need to, just pull the vacuum hose from the other side.

Other options? a mid 80's toyota carbed junker from the yard or give Cruiserparts a try.

.

Thanks guys.

Beaufort... great resource.

Jim... you have a PM.

Thanks again.

Jason
