My son just bought a Bambu Lab 3D printer and I just printed an oil filter wrench. The fit is perfect and seems sturdy enough. It’s amazing what these things are capable of (coming from a Gen X’er). I’ve been searching around for print files to print and only other thing is a better/deeper cup holder. Are there any other cool files anyone would like to share?

Fellow GenXer and industrial designer here. I’ve been 3D printing for nearly 30 years, back to when it was called stereo lithography and the machines cost as much as a house. It’s great to see this at a commodity level but the basic problem is still there: the part is only as good as its design, fit, and finish. Great if you’re willing to put in the engineering time, but I think most people don’t so it’s just a way to realize bad ideas faster. Not commenting on yours, just on the greater “thing-verse” on the web.

If you want to see it done right, check out Octoclassics.com

Totally understand what you’re saying. At least if it’s messed up and doesn’t fit right you’re not out a ton of money. I want to design a mount for Dutch lights that go under the side mirrors similar to what a guy is doing for the 4runners. That’s my goal at least

I found this a while back and bookmarked it.

I'm still too cheap and busy to mess with a 3D printer, so I'm not sure how well it works. I'm pretty sure I found it here on mud.

You could also design a phone holder replacement for the pop-out ash tray.
That’s pretty cool. I have a baofang handheld
