Surprised to learn my LX does not have heated mirrors. It 10F here, just left the car wash to get the road salt off and now the winded has frozen to the glass! LOL

So does the defogger work when you have the mirror adjustment selector in the middle or do you have to switch it to one side? I don't see anything about having to switch it to the side in the manual.
Mirror select switch has no effect on the heated mirrors. Hit rear defrost and they both turn on.I thought on my LC that it only worked if you had switched to one side, but I haven't read the manual in a while. I know it was that way with my old 4Runner.
ETA: I checked my manual online and didn't see anything about the defroster only working when left or right mirror is selected:

This is the way I understand it also.Mirror select switch has no effect on the heated mirrors. Hit rear defrost and they both turn on.
bumping this thread. i just got back from a trip to lake tahoe and noticed by side mirrors were frozen just like the OP. I had the rear defrosters on but the side mirrors never defrosted (mirror selector in the middle). Is there a fuse that possibly gone bad? the rear defroster works btw.
i didnt fix it since it wasnt broken. I actually had the mirror switch to the passenger side the whole time. Once i switched it to the center and turned on the rear defroster, the heated side mirrors worked. I really wish i knew this during my time in Lake tahoe. smhDid you ever get this fixed?

Yes. Read the manual.Just curious if anyone knows - is this by design? I noticed recently (after taking my LX to the shop for some other work) that neither my rear defrost nor side mirror heat are working. This is a big deal since I live in Southern BC and we need this regularly. It just started happening. Wondering if the positioning of the mirror switch (left/middle/right) has anything to do with it? Otherwise I'll have to start checking fuses etc. Will also test the next frosty morning (probably tomorrow).
if people did that, 97% of post on this forum wouldnt existRead the manual.
Sooo.... You almost got me on that one. So I double checked my manual (2008 LX). There is nothing about this in there. At all.Yes. Read the manual.
