what makes our cruisers have so high miles w/o major engine work?

I have an old '76 F-250 with the 300 straight six in it. I don't think that thing will ever die. Ford's 300's are almost as legendary as Toyota's 6 where I'm from. It has a main bearing between every piston, very simple, sturdy design that just doesn't stop. It get's better gas mileage than my 80 too! :) I've gotten 21-22 mpg on the highway reliably with it.

you guys are right i have had 22re, the 3. slow, and now the 1fz and they are all bomb proof. however did you know new taco,s don't even have rear disk brakes. I hope the cruiser lasts much longer.

Yeah, those 22R engines are bomb proof for sure. I had one that jsut would not die if I try to kill it.

I had one of these in a '77 Corona and I BEAT the living SH!T out of it! It wouldn't die. I tried. It won.;)

2WD Toyota pickups are everywhere here in rural Northern California, most with many hundreds of thousands of miles and minimal maintenance. Toyotas are legendary
