87 Fj60 carb on a desmogged 2F, took out the stock 180 main for a 132 to pass emiss. Runs cleaner but the power is lacking, It was a bit rich with the 180. Thanks.

Check with Jim Chenoweth. He recommended going to a 1.24 for a stock 78 FJ-40 with 2F. He indicated stock would be a 1.36. I am in Crested Butte at 9000 feet, however the FJ is in Tucson and has not made it up to CB yet. Don't know about the FJ-60. Hope this helps.

Hi All:

You should check with some of the Rising Sun crowd, like Jeff Zepp for advice on high-altitude carb stuff.

Alan

Degnol, I dont quite follow what your saying. I went from a stock 1.80 main to a 1.32 because it was a bit rich for emissions. The plugs were burning slightly black with the 1.80 also, but it had better power than with the 1.32. I live at 7500' somtimes drive down to denver, somtimes to summit county at 10,000'. thanks

on early carbs there were spare jets on the plugs for the fuel bowl. I don't believe that's the case for the FJ60s, as the HAC valve took care of all that (supposedly). But it sounds like it got taken off in the desmogging, or doesn't exist on the engine you're putting it on. I bet ttubb's advise is good, coming from Jim, but I don't know where you buy various jets for these trucks.

I don't know what jets I'm running on my truck, but I do know it runs fine from 3,000 feet all the way up to 13,000+ feet (Mosquito Pass - highest driveable pass in the U.S.). I'm sure it's rich up high and lean down low, but the engine doesn't seem to mind and it passed emissions in Douglas County (emissions similar to Denver).
