I am going to do the ford towers in the front. One because its cheap. And two because I need new shocks, but what length shock do I ask for, I would love to buy exspensive shocks But will probably go with a mid priced napa shock, I had them on my toy pu and worked great.
Thanks
Jamie

Put the towers on then ramp it til you hit a bump stop. Then measure for your shocks.

SO? 9012's

I don't have a ramp, or a fork lift, I have looked around for a good ditch and there is nothing close enough to make it convienient to just go and take the shock off and measure and come home and buy shocks. Is it bad to run too long a shock, or as long as it hooks up to the mounts is it anything goes, the longer the better. Could I just measure the difference in tower lengths and go with adding the difference in shock length over stock

As long as yuou have 4 or 5" of shock shaft showing you will be cool..

hijack in progress

ranchos right? just so happens a buddy had 2 of these and wanted rid of them, now i have 2 of them. they will be going on as part of the OME heavy/heavy lift i'm installing, spring under for the forseeable future.

from the little i've read, i'm guessing i should mount the towers as high up as i can?

They will be a tight fit in SU..

I agree with Mace. The 9012's on a SUA truck will be too long unless you make some hoops, and even then it would be tight.

He says he is running the ford towers. If you mount up the towers and cut the inner fenderwell to make use of the entire length. And also use the stock bottom mounting, then the 9012 probably wont work b/c max extension will be more. (This takes into consideration my set-up. 4" SUA)

I had to cut the towers down a good bit. And will be reworking them again soon. I may end up going with some hoops and relocating the lower mount to the top of the axle. I am running 14" travel doesch tech 8000 in the front and 11 or 12" travel in the rear.

It is not the extension. it is the compression..
