Looking to get one, but have no idea where to start.

Model #'s and pics if possible.

My setup:

Unidan PRO520XL radio - http://www.walcottcb.com/uniden-pro520xl-compact-cb-radio-with-pa-jack-p-532.html?cPath=377_502_379

Firestik 4' Firefly flexible antenna - http://www.walcottcb.com/firestik-fl4b-firefly-flexible-antenna-p-896.html?cPath=377_352_412

Heavy duty spring - http://www.walcottcb.com/firestik-ss3h-stainless-steel-spring-p-585.html?cPath=377_28_444

For a mount, I used this from WagonGear - http://wagongear.com/shop/antenna-mount/, but he only has them for 60 series right now. The "Lots More Info" button at the bottom details how it all works, what parts to use, etc.

My setup tuned quick and easy, and I can Tx and Rx clear for miles.

CB radios have come a long way in a short time. The radio I'm running isn't full of features like some of the newer ones are, so you might want to shop some and see what best fits you.

You might also check out http://www.rightchannelradios.com/equipment-by-vehicle/jeep-offroad-cb-radio.html

They have some complete kits available-It's maybe a little more than buying each piece, but it's a complete kit...not sure how you're planning to mount the cb radio- are you installing in the 40 or the 80?

I have a Uniden 510XL (step down from the 520XL Josh has)...I think the only difference is the 510 doesn't have external PA capability....It's a very small unit (I was able to mount it in my dash no problem by making a cut out in one of the dash panels). Some people also like the Cobra 75 since it's all in the microphone and you don't have much to mount (it's more expensive though)...

Cheapest route is probably to go through Amazon and buy each piece individually...(if you're a prime member, you also get free 2-day shipping)...

SWR Meter: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004ULN610/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

3 ft Cable for SWR Meter Testing: http://www.amazon.com/Procomm-Cable...1388515006&sr=1-3&keywords=3+ft+cb+coax+cable

Antenna Spring: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00042LC9M/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you don't want to drill any new holes for the cable, I'd suggest routing through a rear taillight cover, etc....

You'll probably also want to do an add a circuit to tie the system into your fuse box- definitely easiest way to go and will save you a ton of cable routing...

If you don't mind it taking up more space, I would go with a larger unit. The few cb shops I have been to say they can't mod the really small radios. I would take whatever I decided on and have it "peaked and tuned." This is a process where they essentially eliminate the governor and make sure it is on the correct frequency. Most shops will sell you the antenna and tune it for a nominal fee.

All of this doesn't cost a lot and will be better insurance that your radio will work on the trail. Go with a cheap handheld if you aren't concerned with talking more than 3-4 car lengths. I have been out with some folks and their radios won't work that far.

The radio shop in Morgan is considered one of the better ones in AR. Kodiak is the name (I think).

I have the Uniden Pro 520xl like Josh has with a 5 ft Hustler whip antenna. I have SWR tuned my set up and it works great. There are times like when we were out in the forest that day, it was picking up all kinds of chatter from who knows where. It always works well at Superlift as well.

It's just a matter of how much or little you want to spend. I picked up the one I did because it fit where the ash tray was and was a little cheaper than others.

Walcott cb has a website that is helpful if you don't have a shop near you.

You can use my SWR meter next time we are at the park of you don't want to buy one. Bought my meter at Radio Shack.
