I posted in a thread about a trip to CO for COTR and LCDC that I can’t attend following issues engaging 4Lo. Quickly a couple of members responded with suggestions and advice which was awesome to see. @Diff Kraken took it a step further and said come over tomorrow morning to work on it as I tackled this issue in my 200. This is what the club and the community is all about. Thank you @Diff Kraken for your time, effort and hospitality. Thank you to the rest of the club for the culture you’ve built here. Hell I tried to offer anything and was told nope pay it forward as others in the club have with me. Speaks volumes. On with the story.

So we get to working, with some help, pictured (and not) in the first photo below, pulling off the bud built skids which weren’t easy, but certainly not difficult to get off as @Diff Kraken 200 had these skids and he had taken off and installed them many times. They’re also pretty straight forward so good job Bud Built.

Once off it was nice not to have to deal with the factory cage thing, however that pleasant revelation was short lived as we started taking off the actuator. Well attempting to anyway. The screws were very corroded and we got a few off before something neither of us ever experienced happened. The Husky stubby Phillips head broke off or sheared in the screw. We also saw that a ground wire was cut or torn at some point and the breather hose was a bit frayed.

I will be ordering a new actuator, this ground wire which despite having a part number for it not showing up in my research yet, and breather hose so we can button it all back up. Could be the ground wire, could be the likely corroded internals, but with both about to be replaced I am confident the LX will be back in action soon. Some pictures below for reference.

It was a good morning meeting a new friend and fellow club member while seemingly getting to the bottom of why my 4Lo isn’t working. Thank you again to Diff and to each of you who continue to help one another out, fostering a great community.

Thanks for bringing her over. Happy to help. Once you get that new actuator (Toyota Part No. 36410-60101) and ground strap (Toyota part No. 82284-60130), come back on by and we'll get her buttoned all up. Nice rig btw. You've built the perfect wheeler- especially with those 37s. Well done.

that IS a nice-looking truck! I too have found this group to be very willing to help out a fellow enthusiast when they can. The "pay-it-forward" principle is one of my favorite ideologies. :)

This is something I need to get done on my 200. Glad I have all the part numbers easy to find now

I appreciate the kind words on the build! Looking forward to getting out and wheeling with everyone soon!

@prharper unfortunately I don’t think I am going to make it to Co and last week already told Chase I wouldn’t so don’t want to place strain on the organizers. Next year!

I am going to target COTR in Windrock, Fall Crawl and hitting the trails often before these events.

I understand things do come up, been there. Thanks for the heads up and look forward to seeing you at one of those East coast events later in the year. Fall Crawl for sure!
