hey guys.. i pulled the running boards off my 99 100 the other day and under the passenger door, bolted to the frame is some strange piece. its like 7-8 inches long and it looks like its attached to the frame and nothing else, its on the pass side but not the driver side. i can take a pic over the weekend, but i thought maybe somebody would know off hand what im describing. i want to take it off because, a) its ugly and b) from where its placed it looks like it might get ripped off at some point. is it essential? or what the hell is it? thanks..

its a damper for vibrations, its not used on the superior 2000 models 
It IS used on the 2000 model. Mine has one!
