What is this glovebox sensor thing?

There's one in my Lexus too that's not hooked up but I can't seem to find any info on what it is.

Airbag connection. I'd probably worry if it isn't plugged up. Based on location I'd assume it's for the passenger side.

By "hooked up" I meant hooked to the plastic piece there (assuming it was part of its function) but it is plugged into itself. So I think we're good.
