hi, i'm looking to buy the lc100 or lx470 and i want to know what is the best year to get ? i been reading history about the rig some has the rear lock, some has 5 speed and some has more horsepower so what do you think is the best year to get in your opinion ?

Hello,
There is a huge price delta between the various descriptions described above. As in a close to $20,000 difference between some 1998's and 2007's.
5 speed is undeniably a major advantage in post 2003 models.

Highly recommend perusing the myriad threads all pretty much exactly as yours, but did not have the heart to simply to tell you to use the "search bar". That said, do look at the comprehensive guide on Christo Slee's website and again highly recommend looking at the other threads.
Best,
Jack.

Best for what? Intended use?

1998-2006 for the 470 / 1998-2007 for the 100...... Take your pick, you can't lose as they are all amazing. The lower the miles the better of course. Also depends on its intended use. Do you want the Active Height Control (AHC) system, or due you prefer traditional shocks and springs. AHC was available on both platforms.:meh:

Well if your budget is at or near 30k, I would most definitely go 2005. Getting a 2005 would leave you with funds for updating and I believe 2004 is when Bluetooth came on board. Not to say you could not add that aftermarket.

That said, if you could find the uber rare 2006-2007 models which are NAV free, that would be the ultimate. It seems most if not all are in Hawaii, but should you find one, jump on it as that opens up adding a current Nav/stereo setup.

This has been the white whale of my landcruiser search. That plus no AHC.

Toyota doesn't have a Hawaii disc for gen 4 nav. I'm betting that's why you can find em nav less there.

That is exactly what my pet theory is pertaining to the prevalence of 100's so configured. Wonder what it costs to ship one from HI to the mainland?

The Bluetooth in my 05 lx is brutal. is it supposed to work only from the left speaker and at such low max volume? Would love to upgrade!
