What is the Best way to run a fridge wire?

I have my fridge sitting on top of an ARB slide box and wired to a fuse panel bolted at the back of the box.

When I slide the fridge in and out sometimes the power wire drops down into the box drawer and gets caught on stuff.

What is the best way to run the wire to the fridge so the power wire does not get hung up or caught when sliding the fridge in and out?
 
retractile cord like the one at wits end
bungee cord ziptied to the cord
helical bundling wrap
attached the wire up as high as possible on the back of the fridge and aimed out one side of it then P-looped to the plastic interior pieces

I never heard of that absolute-wits-end.com before... all kinds of cool stuff, Plugs for the air lines, air powered blender, shelf for an air tank.

I'm going to use a coil cord and run it from the upper corner like you suggested.

The Wits end products are all by a IH8mudder. Very nice stuff.

Bumping this one to discuss wire gauge in the retractile cord. Smallish size has 2x 18g wires and the new one, which has same gauge wires as the OEM National Luna cord, has 8ga wires (3x of them in a single cord because that’s all I could source economically).

My issue is not the routing so much as the girth of this BBC (Big Black Cord). Pics pending.

Looking for guidance on minimum requirements for wire gauge. I’m a fan of overbuilding as much as the next guy but, I think this is one area where I want to be thin.

8ga details:​

Retractable Coil Cord, 8/3 SEOW UL/CSA, 1FT Retracted, 5FT Extended

18ga details:

I used the 18 guage wire and used the black and white wires BOTH for the Pos+ connection, and the green for the ground. I has been working fine for years.

I zip tied the coil wire to the grab handle in the cargo area. and the other end of the coil connects to two 8 AWG wires at the back of the fridge slide.
The 8 awg connect coil wire to plug at the front of the fridge.
So I didn't use the whole coil just enough to go from the grab handle to the back of the fridge when pulled out on the slide.

This is for a 73 quart.

FWIW, Anderson SB50 connectors are meant for 6, 8, or 10AWG wire up to 50 amps. PP connectors can support up to 45 amps depending on the wire gauge; with 16-20 meant for 15A, 12-14 meant for 30A, and 10 meant for 45A.

how much does your fridge pull and how long is your wire? common sense says to run something beefy to the quarter panel, then branch off that w/ a smaller gauge to your device. breakers or fuses are your friend. doubling up wires can up the amperage your wires can take. there are calculators which can help w/ this.

Nah, run the 8ga.
18ga is just way too thin for anything over .5V/.25A, over distance. The voltage drop will be significant, and work against you when conservative power use is desired. (i.e. alot of power will be wasted just to get the current to the device) I use 16ga on current shunt wiring just for display purposes. And we're talking a max of 250mV over distance.
Plus, you may power something else that needs 5A or more out of that cord. 18ga will def not suffice in that scenario.
 
Appreciate everyone’s input. The distance between my auxiliary fuse block in the PS rear quarter panel is at most 36” with the tilting fridge slide deployed. I should’ve posted pics first.

I have 10 guage to the coil, and then 10 guage after the coil.

I couldn't find a 10 guage coil so that is why I used the 14 guage and doubled up the wires. 10 or 8 would have been better.
