What is the best lift kit for the FJ?

I like the ALL-PRO. But there are sooo many to choose from.

I did the HD front and rear and it is still lower in the front. Did yours really end up level even with the ARB bar and the winch? I am worried when I get the bar and winch installed that it will be REALLY noticably lower in the front. Do you have extra weight in the back?

My truck started with the OME lift, but then I switched to the AP Walker Evans setup because I wanted a smoother ride and ability to adjust the front up to level. The OME is a good setup, you're just stuck wth whatever height you get, which usually isnt level.

Pic without graphics is OME, with graphics is the Walker Coilovers.

Thanks man. Those pics are a great illustration of the difference.
What did the Coilovers run you?

OME vs. All-Pro on the FJ Cruiser...

What is the spring rate difference of the OME 886 front coils & All-Pro coil-overs, or is there one? I would like to go with AP in the front and ToyTec custom springs in the rear but I am worried about the AP coil-overs supporting the weight I have / will have on my rig. Currently installed is a full set of BudBuilt skid plates & Stubbs sliders and soon I will have an ARB (or equivalent) front bumper & winch. Because of the higher price of the AP suspension I am looking at the OME 886 solution for the front.

If through this discussion it is deemed that the AP solution is the best for the front, can I save a few bucks by just getting the AP non-reservoir coil-overs vs the reservoir coil-overs when I only plan on being off-road once or twice on month?

OME lift on mine here.

This is with an ARB bumper and Warn XD9000 winch up front, and over 100 lb of cargo in the rear with the cargobox and Powertank, and tools.

I think with the OME it sits good.
For the OME lift I have:
Front 886 (heavyduty) coilovers, N140S struts
Rear 895 (medium duty) coils, N141 shocks

I'm running the ARB bumper, 9k winch, Full Bud Built Skids, and AP Sliders. There is no problem supporting the weight with the AP lift... Best of all you can fine tune the lift. The best part about the adjustable reservoir is you can soften it up for around town and stiffen it up when you hit the trail... For me the available options that the AP offered made up for the price difference as I only won’t spend my money once. I am very pleased with this lift and will be ordering the matching rear lift from AP in the near future. Hope this helps:beer:

A question on the adjustable coilovers.

Everytime you raise or lower them in the front, you have to get a new frontend alignment right?

At least that is what I would think.

I hope not but maybe Rockcrawler can fill us in

as far I know yes you will have to do an alignment after making a larger ajustment... I waited about 4 weeks after installing it before getting an alignment. It didn't neet much of an ajustment but it was out a bit.

I know the spring rate for the AllPro's are 650lbs, anyone know what the OME 886 Heavy springs are rated at?

I'm not knocking the WE shocks, but they are spendy. Toytec has an adjustable shock option similar to the Donahoes for less coin. Up to full 3" of lift and spacers available with the OME set up as well. Not affiliated, just FYI

Anyone?

I loved the stock height and handling, so I went with the Skyjacker 2" Value spacer kit. I only used the front spacer to level it some and help with the added weight of my bumper and winch.

I got a little over 1" of lift up front after adding the bumper and winch.

Now, I stuffed 285/75R16's under there and they do not rub at all.

Make sure you get the OME 886 (HVY) FRONTS not the 885 (med) springs, I had to replace the 885's because of sag with bumper and wench.

I won't be adding a winch and bumper until I can afford them . . . . but I will eventually.

If I go with the heavy-duty (886) springs without having a winch and bumper installed yet, will there be any adverse handling characteristics until which time the extra weight is added up front?

(Obviously, I don't want to go through the hassle of buying and installing different springs when the time comes.)

I had no real issues with the handling with the 886 front before I installed my bumper, but it waas a little bouncy over speed bumps. I'v had more issue with the HD rears w/o the added weight, where I get some serious rebound on the rockier trails in AZ.
