Just got 15 mpg around town for the first time ever in my 100 series. I have been driving like a complete grand pa (slow and steady and paying attention) and it really woks.

For kicks, I set the cruise at 55mph for a 40 mile flat jaunt up 95 in Virginia. Onboard computer gadget reported 18.2mpg. Wow! Slow and steady gets home late for supper.

Cursed, drew a line in the sand, and drove my motorcycle to work........but school starts next week for my three year old so my plan will be short-lived.

I drive my 93 Accord for now. The LC won't be driven much until winter.

Got 17.25 mpg over the weekend. Never exceeded 75 mph and accelerated real slow. This is the best I have ever gotten. Medium load, headed to Beaufort, NC.

I could not believe it.

Raised the tire pressure to 38 psi. Found the spare nearly flat.

staying at home, working in the yard (yuk!)

sell your cruiser and it will save you alot of $$$. :grinpimp:

Windows down AC off will give you worse milage - the increase in drag is greater than the savings for cutting out the AC.

This is a myth and is totally untrue, it has been proven by the Society of Automotive Engineers and Mythbusters that driving with the windows down saves fuel over using the A/C. While having the windows down does create drag it does not create enough to use more fuel than using A/C, especially while driving under 55 mph.

what kind of mpg are you guys getting? I find that when I use 89 or 91 and I drive mostly highway I get just over 18 mpg while averaging between 70 and 75 mph. I figure that's not too bad. When I use 87 though, my mpg goes to complete crap. I'm not sure why that is, but figured the car was not tuned for 87. Still though, the difference is quite astonishing.

I just tested that on a long trip. No significant difference in mpg seen between 87 and 91.

99 LC 90K. Born and raised in PB, Ar. But left the area in 84. Anyway, had been getting 14-17 mpg, but I suspect my O2 sensors have gone bad (Engine light/high idle/loss of power). I'll go see my mechanic to confirm. Post later.

I would guess in your region the 87 or mid-test stuff is formulated. In Iowa (for instance), the mid-grade is a higher concentration of ethanol, a decent price. You do pay however if poor fuel economy because the ECM is adjusting to make up for the crappy fuel as well as increased wear in the engine.

Next time at the pump, inquire as to the % forumlation for each grade.

I'm simply trying to drive less, and bring sandwiches to work for lunch. When you spend $10 a day on lunch, why complain that our gas still costs less than everywhere else in the word.

Buying ONLY premium... the delta is still like 20 cents... $3 or $3.20 (6.6% more) and I get 15mpg on 92octane vs 14 on 87octane (7.1% farther on a gallon). Made some sense at around $2 a gallon now its cheaper too.

MTA Baby! Take that sucka every day.
