What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Did a compression check: (cylinders 1-6) 120, 120, 120, 130, 130, 140. Not bad for a 50 year old engine.
Spark plugs were a little fouled, not surprised.
New plugs, wires, cap and rotor.
I swapped a non working vacuum advancer for a working one.
Oil and filter changed too.
Fired her up then took the dog for a run in the fresh snow we got here in Valdez this afternoon.

Got ready to sling in the 350 and the beautiful NV4500/Orion that Georg at Valley Hybrids assembled for me only to find that the bellhousing from Advance Adapters doesn't fit the transmission. Not Advance Adapters fault though. This is on me because I am a product of the California public school system in the 1970's and 80's which has apparently left me without the ability to distinguish between the pre-1996 and post-1996 GM NV4500's. Also, Pluto isn't a planet anymore, Columbus didn't discover anything and the Dewey Decimal System is a relic of a bygone era, so that was 12 years of my life well spent. Anyway, I'll order the correct bellhousing today. Also have a guy coming to pick up the original F engine, 3 speed and t-case. If anyone is wondering what that combo is worth, it's taken me 7 months to find someone who would take it for free.

I think Georg has a stack of take-out 3-speeds! Mine is in there somewhere...

Wheeled it!

I was losing brake fluid! So I ordered the wheel cylinders from FJ Parts. One side is complete, now to the other side.

I too just installed new wheel cylinders on my 40. I adjusted all cylinders full “out” so the shoes were right up to the drum and would not adjust any further. At that point I bled the system (many times) to get air out. Then backed the adjuster off so there was slight drag.

Several more carbs showed up for rebuilding, so it ended up taking me a week just to get some seam sealer in the rain gutter and some epoxy primer on the roof. Also had to straighten all four of the overhead door bows from the original accident before throwing some krylon on them. Hopefully I can paint the roof next week and put the truck back together.

I celebrate the wonderful differences between men and women however, one that has caused me to embark on my current ‘project’ is the acceptable level of gasoline fumes……. Women are apparently more intolerant of ANY amount! When PO of my ride desmogged it, he went whole hog cuz it is all gone :grinpimp:
This has never been very high on my to-do list but little comments about the SMELL recently have put me on the Google trail…… There are some nice remedies for said issue but I really didn’t want to sink a lot of $$$ into this….. I ran across a couple of sites that offered a cheap setup for the fumes but wasn’t convinced until seeing this same one being added to @GA Architect ‘s pristine 40! If you’ve seen it, you know! So… if it’s in his, why not? ;)
I mounted this homemade canister to original location on the fender…

That is some of the best yellow zinc plating I've ever seen Frank. Most everything here is too gold, or too yellow. It makes me wonder if you have a secret ingredient south of the border that we're not allowed to have here anymore?
