What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

The rivets from the motor mounts may have been ground flush and painted over. Most of mine I ground the heads off then took a punch and hammer a knocked them out leaving the hole behind.

Fixed that problem.

Upgraded the headlights to the Koito H4 lights and while I was wiring the harness I noticed this odd-looking doohickey on my passenger-side firewall, next to the ignitor. It looks like it's seen better days, as in burnt up. Does anyone know what this is?

I bought this for my 70 series to shift spare over and up to fit a 35x12.5. For my 40 I used a spacer like all my other 40s to fit 35x10.5 on stock pre-74 and/or post '74 carrier. Both will work here for more clearance.

I have a 2" spacer on mine, but really only need 1". How far away from the carrier does this place the tire? I worry about how much torque it's placing on the carrier hinges and would like to get the tire closer.

Got around to replacing the motor mounts.
I un-bolted the fan shroud, used a floor jack under the oil pan, inline with the front mounts, with a block of wood to disperse the weight; and a bottle jack under the front of the transmission. Loosened all 4 mounts and lifted the engine as uniformly as I could. Knocked it out in 2 hours. Drove it around all day. A bit more quiet and less noise.
Sorry, no pics.

I did a rebuild on my steering center arm that was causing some wobble at “speed”. Fairly routine except after 50 years of never being separated, the “pitman arm” (unsure on terminology) DID NOT want to come off the bottom of the center arm, had to take that in for assistance. Once all done and properly adjusted, my stock steering is now dreamy!!😜

Just wrapped up replacing the original body mounts with the energy suspension kit ones.
Used a bottle jack and blocks of wood to lift and support the body as I worked my way around. Not a fun job, but not too complicated either.
Feels good knocking out a few tasks the past couple weeks.
Need to replace a bushing or two on the OME suspension. I noticed a ubolt plate is cracking, might go ahead and get the flip kit. Also want to address the cruiser lean. Need to re-measure now I've got the body mounts swapped, but I'm sure its still there to some degree.
Anyways, fun times as always. Really enjoy working on this thing.
