What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

May take you up on it Matt, I’ve got a decision to make… I have the Daystar kit because that was what was used on the rear sill half a lifetime ago. From what I’ve read, it’s not the easiest since the mounts are one piece so lining up hardware on the install is harder than with the Energy Suspension mounts.

Maybe others that have used or tried to use the Daystar mounts can chime in.

I would bet that once you have the tub jacked up enough to take the load off the mount point, you will be fine. The old mounts (mostly) slipped out. I wire brushed the rust off and made a mental note to return in the future to disassemble them and hit them with some rust encapsulator. The new mounts slipped in easily clearing the tub. One was snug but tapped into place. I wanted to get the truck back on the road for a Cedar Park trip yesterday.

During the job I did find the "one spot" where the body rust is the worst is going to need some shoring up. Today I'll dig up some reinforcing metal and make a band-aid for that mount.

I’m pulling my welder out for some trailer repairs if you need anything glued together

Shoes as out of stock though. 😞
Yes, saw that.
They are in stock at Energy Suspension (supposedly) but the question remains: why no hardware?

6 hours of work in total to do the body mounts on my ‘65. 🍌 🍌 🍌. I had to cut all 4 of the rear bolts. Four or five of the others snapped. I ran out of lights so the last three will get tightened tomorrow and we’ll see how it rides.
After a drive over some potholes to the store, it’s way less squeaky and rattle. Now, my attention need to go to the squeaky hard top and rattling rear scissor door.

Don’t leave your body mounts sitting in your office for three years like I did. Do this repair today!

Alternator and heater are next. Thanks be to Coolerman for the adapter kit.

There doesn’t seem to be another option until you start off branding on Amazon and eBay. Most place we would shop just resell this kit. Same kit from Energy Suspension just a different price.
Ian, if it doesn't include bolts and washers I'd think a quick stop at Austin Bolt on Burleson would do the trick. They'll be able to match the threads from one of the mounts, get you the right length and hardware grade.

Thanks Kelly, you’re correct and that place rocks.

I just find it curious, plus, that is probably up to an additional $35-$50 when the other kit includes them for around the same price.

Also, it’s just another way to say, “get off my lawn!”.
I’m practicing for if I ever decide to get old.

Trust me, there's no practicing for getting old... you just wake up one day and realize its game on

@mef0629
Less than $200
@cruiseroutfit sells them.

By the way, Kurt, why don’t the daystar kits for later years come with hardware?

Thanks.

Hmmm, good questions, I’ll have to look into that when I’m back in town. If there is need and demand (which I assume there is), we can certainly add hardware to the kits. We stock (not something we retail) a huge amount of OEM and aftermarket JIS metric hardware that we use for kits, in shop projects and R&D stuff. Basically any bolt, nut or washer we’ve ever ordered, we document and keep physical spares in a ‘library’ of hardware.

The Energy Suspension kit uses SAE bolts. Not sure about Daystar.
