What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week? (46 Viewers)

Since my engine is out of the way I decided to rebuild the front axle. I thought I had bad bearings in the differential, but the pinion gear was toast. So good decision on the rebuild. Anyway......finally got everything back together and my new wheels and hubs installed. Now I can have my son push me back and forth in the garage so I can pretend I’m driving it.
I’ve never done any car projects like I’ve taken on with this 40. So far it’s going pretty good, but when I tried to install the new hard brake lines on the axles and knuckles......I was almost ready to list an ‘78 project truck on the classifieds.

Nice work. What color wheels?

Rustoleum Smoke Gray which seemed to be the consensus here on the best match available in rattle cans.

Nvm, saw where you answered earlier.

Goodies from @lcwizard. Scuffed with 320, primed with DAP1690, painting with SS100. Don't know if I'll clear coat or not.

It took more than a week, but it’s in!!! @Poser rear disc kit, fj80 3rd with an ARB(@cruiseroutfit) and moved the axle back 1.5”.

Not breaking any new ground, but I’m stoked to have it back on the road again. I still need to attach the rear shocks, but the studs need some love before they go back in.

And the final product for now. I’m going to need to trim the fenders in the rear, but hopefully this will keep them out of front of the rear fenders.

Overall, they were pretty straightforward mods. Both suppliers were great to deal with. Stripping and cleaning the axle were the biggest time hogs. After that, I spent my time slowly putting it all back together. The little things seem to take the longest.

Still need to install the bump stops, mount compressor, hook up air lines and reinstall shocks. I have a proportioning valve for the rear disc I’m still up in the air about- I currently seem to have good brake bias. This could be because I’m using the minitruck master cylinder. If this changes as the rears bed in, I’ll install the valve.
****edit: there’s a slight bias to the rear once I got on a dirt road. That means the valve is going in. ****

Put a new emblem on the 45LV this week..(actually have done a ton of stuff in the last year on the LV)

I know it's not correct for 64, and I do have the correct huge sticker for the LV....but it wasnt going to look right on mine. The emblem really made it, now I will put the cover over the Toyopet.

Looks like the geese took a liking to the parts 65...

Got rid of a clunk in the 82 fj40.

Today, manifold gasket on the 45lpb and maybe a few oil changes.
