What fo you consider "high miles"?

It's more like $3k when it's all said and done. And that's with a sweet parts discount through my club at my local dealer. I had a few non dealer mechanics look at this and none would touch it due to the liability or lack of the SST to do the full bleed with the ABS.

It's one of those things I knew might be a time bomb, but hoped it wasn't the whole booster. Thought maybe just the MC plunger or accumulator. Turns out it was a time bomb... But given what I have in the truck with my build, seemed pretty stupid not to fix it right.

It's clearly an issue on 99-2000s from the threads here, so maybe toyota got it fixed and improved when they introduced the VSC. Don't hear as many issues with those here.

This is the only issue I have had with my 2003 in 1 1/2 years of owning it. Kind of sucks to drop $2k on a single part but hopefully the new one should last for another decade or so. I also don't like how these fail, bunch of warning lights and then you get about 15-20 pumps with your brakes before nothing! My wife was driving when it happened and almost smashed into a parked car. You can stop the truck but you have to literally stand on the pedal. But this being the only issue I've had in 30,000 miles of owning a higher mile truck, I can't complain.

Probably late to the thread but I paid 6,500 for an 01' with 240K. I took it to CarMax and they would have given me 7K for it. I say 8K is ok as long as it is as good as you say. In fact...if you don't want it let me know....maybe I will buy a second one : )
