Hi all,
I've tried searching for an answer on this but have come up short. I've attached a screen grab from video showing a red light on my dash that will momentarily light every once in a while. It doesn't stay on, and it only seems to display under hard revs in 1st and maybe 2nd gear, but not otherwise. I feel like I saw a reference in an online manual source that it was related to the brake fluid level, but that doesn't seem to jive. My braking seems just fine and fluids appear normal. This is on a 1994 HZJ73 left-hand drive from Belgium.

Thanks!

Usually there are three causes for that light:
- Handbrake lever is not fully down
- Vacuum supply in the reservoir is low
- Brake fluid level is low

If none of those causes are present you have an electrical issue with one of the three circuits for those sensors/switches.

Haha Three experts, five opinions...
In my rig it's usually the parking brake switch on the lever.
But if you were not even aware of this light (as it comes on always you use the parking brake) you either never used it, or it was out and came back to live now, or it's something different.
Good Luck
Ralf

Yup, like low brake fluid. On my 73, I first took the handbrake apart to check the switch. It was good. I then read that the light also indicates a brake problem like low fluid. I checked the fluid level and it was low. Topped it off and the light went out. Checking the fluid level is quick and easy.

Did you find the cause?

I had the same issue on my FZJ70, fluid level looked decent, braking power seemed OK, parking brake switch was checked and functional.

Brake line flush and fluid top-off solved it.

Pro tip: Make sure to disengage the parking brake after each troubleshooting step, to see if your efforts have cleared the red light.

Thanks! That helps. Appreciate it.
