Newbie question:
Anyone know what the red button on the front end of the AT shifter housing do? It's in a '92 HDJ81.

Thanks,

Matt

It releases the lever from the park position when the key is off. The brake pedal does the same thing when the key is on.:)

:)Label says "shifter lock" :)

Missile launcher- JDM only...:grinpimp::grinpimp::grinpimp:

I figured it was for the ejection seat option. Does the truck have a sunroof?

:)

Thanks for the reply Dougal.

I was hoping it would be for the ejection seat, I opened the sunroof and pushed the button when my wife wasn't looking but nothing happened.....
Me: "hmmmmmm, it must be broken"
Wife: "what's broken dear"
Me: "Oh nothing, never mind............"

I also checked for oil slicks and smokescreens, nothing! So much for all those claims that the JDM vehicles are "loaded!" Oh yeah, lots of benign and helpful extras but where are all the "evil" features?

tntoyota, only if you can guarantee that your running commentary will be as funny as Jeremy Clarkson.

:)"It does not!

It says "shi-fu-to ro-ku-"

Then there is a bunch of Kanji and stuff."

はい、そうです!

on a US 80 it says shift lock, for overriding the break on the lock
