Nice truck, low miles, and 1k in armor included. Check for rust and then buy it.

That's way more than $1k in armor included. Plus it's lifted and has a winch.

That's a great deal.

Only concern is the ABS light. That can be expensive and complicated to diagnose, and as a safety issue, shouldn’t be ignored.

Thank you for the responses. Just bought it! I am pretty excited it's my first LC. Have been cruising this forum for a while but did not have anything to offer.

There is some surface rust on the frame, not bad though. Definitely ABS light is priority, was reading a thread on that last night before I posted.

Link is dead now. Was curious to see what you got!

He got a great deal on a low mileage 98 in a good color with an arb deluxe bumper. Nice ride!!!

'98 163K miles. 1.5" lift. Slee diff drop. Sliders. ARB bumper and winch. Straight sides--amazing shape for its age. Now I am happily the 3rd owner.

Only negatives (known)--the ABS light is on (yikes but brakes firm), couple brake lights are out (maybe why ABS light on?), antenna doesn't go up, and there is a small tear in the drivers seat.

Funny thing when we show up at the craigslist seller's house 100 miles from where we live to find out he went to high school with my wife, his dad is friends with my father in law. Small world.

My buddy bought a 99 with this Same scenario of the ABS light on and doing a brake fluid flush fixed him right up. I think it’s worth a try

Buy yourself a cheap (<$50) scan code reader from ebay and plug it in and see what the ABS error light is.
My uzj100 I purchased second hand, also with the abs error light.
I contacted the Toyota dealer, who told me over the phone, sight unseen, that I'd definitely have to replace the entire ABS unit, at $2000+ dollars plus labour...lol.
Then I bought the scancode reader, and... voila!
Error code = passenger side rear wheel speed sensor low voltage...
Climbed underneath the back, and sure enough, a previous, and dodgy, repair job on the wire going to the speed sensor.
Five minutes with a soldering iron and some heat shrink, and job fixed.
Cleared the error with the same cheap unit, ABS error light off, and hasn't recurred so far, after 6+ months.
If its not so simple, at least you'll have the correct code to diagnose it further.
Enjoy, its a nice looking vehicle!

Do you mind if I ask how much you paid? I'm still hunting for the right one and really just doing research as I have 7 months overseas remaining but knowing what people are paying helps me make a more informed decision between 100s and 200s. And hell, I'm just damn curious. :)

Thanks for the tips. I’ve got an obd2 scanner but not sure if it reads abs. Will fine out today.

Predator I gave $9500 for it. He had just moved back to Oklahoma from Colorado and said he could sell it up there for $11-12k. That seems like the range I’ve seen even around here in looking for the last few month, without the extras. I think I got a great deal.

Think I missed it, but What was the miles?

Just saw it, that’s a great deal!

The scan code reader I got was a cheapy from ebay for about $50 AUD.
Same thing as this one on ebay:
Professional SUPER Diagnostic Scan Tool CAN OBD II OBD2 U581 Code Scanner Reader | eBay

It will read error codes, inc. ABS codes, and clear them, on my UZJ100.
It will read o2 sensors, MAF reading, short and long term fuel trims, engine speed, coolant temp, ignition advance, RPMs, etc.
It doesn't have any capacity, as far as I can tell, to read misfire data, freeze frame or other live data though, nor log data, or VIN number, for this vehicle anyway, so its probably worth researching as there may be other models that are still cheap but with more functionality out there.
Its pretty cheap and nasty, the buttons you often have to press twice to make them work, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Damn, that is a great deal, good for you! Helluva nice find! They're out there, just need to be ready and ever vigilant. I expect to find a good deal once I get back to the US. I'll try to be patient and just be ready to throw money at "the one" when I find her. Congrats again.
