I finally got my back glass replaced, just now. The guy totally mangled the chrome when he pulled out the old window. So there's no way that's going back in.

Now there's an empty gutter in the middle of the rubber seal. He wanted to fill it with silicone, but I thought that would look terrible. So I told him to just leave it.

I remember reading here that someone got some rubber trim for their windows. Is that where it went, in this gutter? If so, what size would work and what is it called?

I dunno. It's very easy to eff up. We did quite a number on the trim that was on the salvaged window, even being super careful. I'm not too worried about it, as I'll probably end up de-chroming the whole thing eventually anyway.

I just emailed a place to ask how much it was per foot. Post up if anyone knows where to get rolls of the "locking strip (14mm or 9/16").

Why replace it? I tore all of mine out before paint last year and never looked back. For the rear glass especially there is no physical reason for chrome. It was hard enough to get the damn thing back in let alone worry about it falling out. It's in there damn snug.

Go to my link above, the OEM weatherstip is not sealed if the expander strip is not in place.

I found a place that sells the lock strip for 1.75 per foot...I'll post back after I get enough for the windshield and make SURE its the right size.
