Got the timing adjusted and new throttle cable. What a world of difference! The increase in acceleration is incredible. I can actually pass people going up hill now.

Next up is correcting the caster. Have a little wobble/drift at speed with the 2.5” OME lift. Reading through old threads seems like there a lot of ways to go about it depending on the measurements. Is there a general consensus on cost effective approach?

Go get an alignment and see what the caster is before you start throwing parts at it. You can probably get away with correction plates but it’s best to know what amount of correction you’ll need.

Hate to break it to ya, but the D pillar your metal pieces are bolted to is plastic. But whatever, it’s you or one of your family members who is going to get killed by the extinguisher.
And if your so smart, why did you put it way back there? If your pinned and there is a fire it ain’t no use to you back there!
Just trying to help, and really what you did there had zero thought put into it!

Edit, just noticed you used the seatbelt attach! That’s plenty strong, 👍

But you never mentioned in your original post you used the seatbelt attach point. Details details.....

I originally put mine there 20 years ago (one on each pillar) and they are still there (although I have new ones). I did everything I could to pull them off the pillar. That location is as solid as a rock. With that said, I could pull all day and never come close to the G's produced in a high speed accident. I am taking the chance on them coming loose. People have them similarly mounted in race cars today so I figure it is a safe bet.

I have seen the results of many high speed accidents and I am not sure there is any place in the vehicle where you could put the fire extenguisher and still be assured you could reach it. Things tend to crumple up quite a bit and you can be pinned and too injured to reach it. I am basically carrying mine to save someone else or my rig if it just happens to catch fire.

Window channel runs, front belt moulding, and front weather barrier. Going into it I expected to work on the front doors but thought the rears were ok.

Turns out neither driver side door had weather barrier, but both passenger doors do.

Also discovered neither front door speaker works—one wasn’t even connected.

Need to find a good source for the rear door belt mouldings and the weather barrier, as well as a solution for the shallow front speakers.

Fire extinguisher discussion continuing...

I'm not a fireman, nor is my wife, and I wanted something for emergencies that she could: light, non-toxic, lasts longer and wouldn't leave residue and would put out an electric car fire. This is what I found and own:

Can be put in the glove box or bolted onto something, mine is down by my right knee bolted. I hope this helps you all, I have no affiliation with any company.

Fire extinguishers are a great idea, they can save your life!
They should be mounted low, never high. The strap that holds them needs to have a g rating. To simply bolt a household fire extinguisher that is secured to a wall in a house is a bad idea. You need a mount rated to take the forces that could occur in an accident.

When the time comes to mount one in my rig it will be mounted low and readily available for me to access from the driver seat and if possible from the passenger seat. Does you no good if you are pinned and a controllable fire breaks out in the vehicle.

I have seen many people mount them where they are to become a projectile as they are mounted to plastic or they are not designed to be installed in a moving vehicle.

The one I commented on did not say he had it mounted to the 3rd row seatbelt until he replied to my reply.

It’s a terrible thing when someone gets killed by an object that is designed to save lives. I have seen this happen in several cases where safety items were improperly mounted or not secured in aircraft. A sad day🙁

That small unit mounted in the Center console is a great idea👍

Thanks to John and Natalie at @white-knuckleoffroad,I put my third set of sliders on one of my Cruisers. This was my first 80 series set and I am as impressed as ever. Went with a 10* angle for more of a “step” as opposed to tucked in protection. Everything fit without issue and quality was better than I remember it being.

Then shortly after got my ARB and went to work mounting my Badlands Apex 12000 winch and installation on the 80.

Just purchased Pamela, my first Landy, and I'm already in love. She's a totally stock '92 3FE. A blank canvas. Two hours underneath changing all the fluids, cleaned the auto shop out of diff fluid, but holy smokes everything is so easy.
Changed the oil, replaced it with high mileage extended protection synthetic
Changed fluids in the diffs and TC, used STP 75W-90

Up next:
Radiator flush, clean out the coolant resi
Patch exhaust/straight pipe?
Valve tune and timing adjustment

Deleted the old tow harness and gained about 6” clearance on the ass end! One less thud on the trail, yippee. Tested it out with a nice dump run. Windows down and toons really lifted
my spirits even though it was just a short trip up 70.

The 80 with a utility trailer is working out nicely in place of the old truck. Impressed how well she pulled and handled a solid load, though not surprised. Just add it to the long list of jobs the best SUV ever can do. The John Deere hitch was 50 bucks I think, FYI. Bolts right up to existing holes.

oh ya, made the dog’s day too

Began my dual battery install. Going to be using a Redarc BCDC1225. After tons of reading on benefits and drawbacks of both the product and the  of the install, I opted for the Redarc over the Blue Sea ML-ACR.
I plan to use turbo-Velcro and attach the Redarc to the cruise control cover.

Anyone out there (preferably within a couple hours of 30750) looking to upgrade their fridge and slide?

I’m sitting here thinking about the utility of this upgrade and all I’m coming up with is that the quarantine has resulted in making unnecessary upgrades to my beloved “Alexis”. All this is going to be powering currently are (4) Rigid pods a GMRS radio and a CB. Total overkill or good future planning??

I welcome the chiding and ridicule that will likely ensue especially based on the above banter regarding a fire extinguisher!
