Replacing OEM with OME stock height springs. Noticed the OME fronts are about inch and a half shorter than the OEMs. Should I be worried about the ride height being lower? Thanks. I’ll find out soon enough I guess 🙂

There are more coils on the Ome. They should not compress as much as the Oem.
I'm sure someone who really knows the answer will comment on here. I have the 2" Ome

Plastic D pillar??? I have the same size extinguisher mounted in the same place but with large Quickfists that are attached to my very much steel D pillar with the provided self tapping screws.

You are correct :bang: I should have said d pillar “trim”.

I would however not trust self tapping screws for that! Nut-serts would be the better choice.

I looked at those Quickfists, there is only one that looks like it’s up to the job and has a 2000lb break strength. All others are way low, one at 300 lb and the others less than that.

Which one you using?

First run after paint. Still needs a bumper.

Quick calculation shows a 5lb object traveling 70 mph coming to a stop in 3 sec will produce 224 lb-force.
Not saying that’s what you always drive at but if that’s the force that can be produced potentially, your strap will fail.
Now let’s look at those self tapping screws. Let’s say they are #10, let’s say you have 8. The surface area of the screws gripping the sheet metal maybe 5/16 sq inch, not much! Nut-serts when installed offer a much greater surface loading area. A single m6 will give about 1/2” diameter.

Yup, I am a safety squirrel, I over think and over build. I can’t help it, I have been an aircraft mech for 30 years and I scrutinize everything and look for faults that can cause failures which can lead to death. Sorry :meh:

I’ve been living on the edge for a long time.... Heck, I don’t even wear a mask in public these days.

Ha, I was worried for nothing. I actually gained almost two inches all around after the swap. :)

600 mile swing through the Florida Panhandle and south Alabama to transport a load of snakes for a research project. Normally I'd be doing this in my FJ60 but needed AC to keep the snakes comfortable. Spent a night of isolation in Apalachicola National Forest as part of the trip. The 80 doesn't see much of this type of use.

Is that a black rat snake you have there?

Changed oil and transfer case fluid. I used my last big oil filter. Now it's on to the yzzdddxxxx...I think that's the one.

I also put on new belt moulding on both front doors.
I have the weather stripping for the fronts too. Do I have to take the door panel off to remove that?

OH..my 80 needs those too. the plastic comes off and if your arm is hanging out it tears it up. Do you have a link to where you sourced those? You just pull them up and replace them?

Wow! Never seen one of those indigos before - like you said, a rarity! That pine forest is their habitat, right?
