Took the family on a road trip to see Bishops Castle by Pueblo in Colorado. Side trip to but some 6 point wrenches in Pueblo
Mr. Jim Bishop built this castle by himself stone by stone. Started in 1959? at the age of 15. He is still on the property and got to meet him yesterday.
What a creative man and full of stories.
Had not been driving cruiser, 80, myself so wanted to see how it did. Daughters DD.
Full tank of gas and drove like a dream. Filled up today and got 14.5 MPG.
Thought I heard a exhaust leak so checking exhaust. It has been 14 months since head Gasket job. Cruised at 70-80 mph no problem and handled the mountain hills/ turns wonderful. 288k and counting

Found a good deal on a pair of MT sliders from a part out vehicle. Been wanting to get rid of the old running boards for a while now. They're beefy!

Installed a new #2 exhaust cushion - hoping to take care of some intermittent rattles. I think I got my money's worth out of the old one.

I need to do the same, Mines sheared off behind the Cats

Sliders look great! I like how they tuck in tight to the rockers. How are those Toyo's as far as road noise? They look like they'd be nice and quiet.

Thanks! Did a little trimming with the flare cap and rubber boot in the rear. I'm happy with how they turned out so far.

The Toyos are an awesome tire...pretty quiet too. I'd say one of the best all around tires I've driven on.

Started my shock/spring swap on the LX today. Got the rear springs in today. Should finish up the shocks and the front springs/shocks this week. Also waiting on a bushing kit to arrive. Here are pictures of the old & new parts. Springs are OME 862 stock height..

Completed the Big Brake conversion with 200 series rotors and 4Runner calipers. hubs have been machined for a slip fit rotor. I Like Big Brakes and I Cannot Lie!!!.
Installed new brake booster and master cylinder.
Installed new belt moldings on all the doors ( I have the quarter panel and vent ones as well).
Added non-skid strips to my nerf bars.
All in all a very productive weekend!

Where did you run your main cables from the battery? Inside the truck or underneath and then up in the back?

I am looking to install an inverter and the only place I can see to locate it is in the RR inner fender.

Originally I was going to run it in the channel by the doors but since I had the carpet out, I ran it out from underneath the console on the passenger side and then over into an opening near where the seatbelt attaches on the passenger rear. It's 6GA so with that, the harness already there, RCA for the amp, and other power wires for USB, there just wasn't going to be enough room for all of it IMHO. If that's all you're going to have down in that channel along with the factory harness then it'd work fine.

Finished. Well, like 95% finished. I need to make a little Kydex panel to cover where the ash tray was.

Had to get out a little this weekend. This is the back area of Lake Arrowhead where I saw another few 80s. Perfect weather and great views. While trying to cross another vehicle up the narrow U-shaped trail we managed to kiss the top of both our rigs since they were tipping towards each other. Fun times
